I made an appointment to have a consult and I left feeling uncomfortable and badly for having made the appointment. I was told the field of hematology is reactive and not proactive. Doctor was not very clear and I was relieved when the appointment was over and I could leave the office!

This Doctor should be banned!!
This doctor is the worse ever! He should be banned to practice.. He missed diagnosed my husband and then treated him with Chemo that made him went deaf.. He said it wasn't the med..He was still under his care with a Chemo pill that should have never been given crushed.. He ended up with a collapsed lung.. I spoke to his nurse instead of him .. They said to still continue with the medication. We never saw him again.. Asked to have him to call, would not do it.. He left and went to another state when my husband died .. Be aware!

Listened and flexible.
Dr Ruben was genuine and listen attentively as I shared my struggle with aftercare from colon cancer surgery. He validated my concerns and appeared very knowledgeable Would highly recommend him and I trusted in his medical judgement. .

No Vision of Hope
I was under this doctor’s care for about a year. I was a good candidate for a surgery that would greatly improve my health, and it was never mentioned to me. A specialist actually performed the surgery and It truly helped me. I also needed a scan and when my current oncologist requested (from another city), I received no response at all from Dr. Rueben. He met me at appointments, but he made it clear that he did not go outside the box to find new treatments or to work with me to prolong my life. Dr. Rueben is not the oncologist that I would recommend.

Not sure why when chemo was recommended all the side effects were never discussed. Why when the patient is suffering from various side effects he is not taken off the drug. Communication between doctors a constant issue.

I've felt like there is little effort expended by the Dr. to act as an impetus for change. It may be where we are, stuck, with little to no progress, but it is frustrating for me that there is no challenge, no attempt at a breakthrough and certainly nothing but a lot of softball questions pitched. Certainly doesn't require accountability. There seems like no ability for him to break through the cycle of depression that we are dealing with and motivate my partner.
