Not a positive experience
I first met Dr O’Connor when I had cataract procedures on both eyes, both successful. I returned several years later for a laser treatment on one eye to clear issues. My eye pressure was quite high that day and I shared that I was on prednisone. Initially the laser procedure was successful. My vision deteriorated, the pressure stayed elevated and eye drops didn’t help. Monthly visits didn’t help. After several inquiries and wasted time I was seen by another doc - testing determined I needed a procedure asap to not only reduce the pressure but to save what sight I had left. Dr. O’Connor saw me briefly and said glaucoma is not is area of expertise and turned me over to a glaucoma specialist. After talking with OCB glaucoma doc I decided to get a second opinion. I did have a procedure done at MEE, the doc their suggested an alternative procedure. Pressure is much better, eye sight not any better. I believe laser treatment should not have been done & deterioration addressed sooner

I have been a reader all my life and I have never had a problem with my eyes. I went to see my optometrist to ask for one progression up on my glasses. I noticed that my eyes were getting a bit tired from doing my usual amount of reading. I was told that I needed to have cataract surgery because one of my eyes was very bad. Since I have had that surgery, everything is blurry and I do mean everything. I cannot see anything up close without my glasses. I am also having tremendous headaches every time I do any reading. I believe that I did not need to have the Cataract Surgery. And if I needed to have that surgery so badly why was MODERATE written on my medical records. And, I was not able to get my point across to another doctor that was part of the OCB network. She was primed before I even arrived in her office.

Outstanding is the word used to describe the service I received from Dr. O'Connor and his excellent staff. Just completed two cataract surgeries with Dr. O'Connor and his staff. Professional, Knowledgeable and Caring is the Service I received, and my Mother did also 15 years earlier. Great Staff, Great Surgeon. No pain and able to read the same night. Would recommend Dr. O'Connor and his staff to anyone, anytime. What a Blessing to see clearly. Thanks Bob

My overall experience with cataract surgery was excellent. I found Dr. O'Connor and his staff very professional and caring. I am extremely pleased with my results. I wore contact lenses with monovision for many years and Dr. O'Connor was able to monovision with my cataract surgery so I am less dependent on glasses.

I’ve been a patient of Dr O’Connor’s for many years when it came time to address my cataracts, Dr O’Connor was the ophthalmologist I trusted to do my surgery. I’ve had a great outcome. My vision is better than ever. His staff is a well oiled machine! Very efficient & caring. I recommend him for any eye issues.

I am a patient of OCB and have seen Dr. O'Connor, Dr. Bush, Dr. Rubin and Dr. Rifkin. It is so reassuring to have a team caring for you each with their unique area of specialty. When I needed cataract surgery, Dr. O'Connor was my first choice. I've had both eyes operated on and am very pleased with the results and care I received. Dr. O'Connor and his team especially Mark, gave me the confidence to proceed and I am happy that I didn't wait to have surgery. It was so nice to not have to travel to Boston for this level of expert care. Both OCB and Plymouth Laser and Surgical Center exceeded my expectations!

I wouldn't advise anyone to go to Dr. O'Connor for cataract surgery! What happened to me with 2 surgeries on one eye, terrible pain, 7 stitches, chips left in the eye, very high eye pressure resulted in going to Mass. Eye and Ear emergency room in Boston. A wonderful retina surgeon there did surgery and saved my optic nerve! I have had many follow-up appointments with him and a glaucoma specialist there and finally see them now 2X year. I had to take several kinds of eye drops for a year. I contacted the Ma Registry and Licensing Board. After investigating, they sent him a reprimand which was placed in his file.

Do not use Dr. O'Connor. He was recommended for my cataract surgery. Something went wrong during the procedure because a corneal abrasion occurred which was very painful. Dr. O'Connor never explained why that had occurred. He assured me that I would have distance vision after the procedure. I had constant blurred vision after the procedure with no explanation as to why in the three post-op appointments with Dr. O'Connor until I asked when the blurriness would go away. He replied that it wouldn't because I was now near-sighted in the operated eye. I'm naturally far-sighted and somehow there was an error in the measurement/testing procedure that produced the wrong result. I had to have expensive Lasik surgery to correct the error and fix the eye. Stay away!

I have been an OCB patient for over 35 years with severe glaucoma in both eyes. Had an issue in one eye. Went in to see O'Connor. Was told there was an opening in 25 minutes. Was seen early by tech and again told I'd be seen shortly. I was then left to sit for 2 hours. Had one of the staff not intervened I would have been sitting longer. When finally seen the interaction was cold and arrogant. Maybe you get proper care if you visit his office. DON'T bother going if come from Boston/Cape offices.

Dr. O'Connor, was very thorough, in his examination and explained to me what my options were and what would happen when I had my cataract surgery. I think he has a great patient/ doctor relationship. All the staff I met and the receptionist was very helpful and pleasant. A great experience !

Had cataract surgery w/Dr O'Connor. My vision in the eye is worse than prior to surgery. I intend to seek help from another ophthalmologist from another hospital. Lots of excuses as to why surgery didn't work; he turned me over to another doctor- more excuses. Appears Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (Plymouth Office), performs too many surgeries in a day.
