Dr. Daniel Markowicz, MD

The most indecisive physician I have ever trusted. He is a great surgeon but his diagnostic skills were inconsistent. Wasted my time and left me in significant PAIN redoing the same tests over and over again. Repeatedly did not even take the time to review his notes from prior visits! Consequently, I had to refresh his memory. If Dr Markowicz was unsure of his diagnosis he definitely had the resources at HSS to refer me to a colleague rather than ultimately leave me in pain and feeling abandoned.

I am a 69 year old retired nurse who had suffered for many years with pain due to a left hip arthritis. Dr Markowicz did a THR at HSS in Stamford. My outcome and recovery have been extraordinary. He is not only highly skilled but a very compassionate and responsive doctor. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I am a retired nurse educator who at 89 had a hip replacement with Dr Markowicz. Recovery was extraordinary with hip and spinal pain being completely diminished within a couple of days post surgery. I found him to be a most approachable physician who addresses a patients concerns with clear explanations. My research proved that I could not have chosen a better qualified physician for my surgery. Before my surgery, I search the internet and talked to people (even went to three other orthopedic surgeons) to find a doctor and hospital that I could have confidence in. I decided Dr. Markowicz was the one. I am 88 years old and I have had two very successful knee replacements one in October and one in February. I have found Dr. Markowicz to be an excellent surgeon, and caring doctor interested in his patients. You might have to wait what seems like a long time in the examining room because he often takes a long time with his patients so be prepared to occupy yourself while in wait. It is worth the wait!

When I first visited Dr. Markowicz my left left leg (hip) was in a very bad way. I had not been able to walk for over a year and a half. I had had a hip revision that had failed - partly due to the weakness of my femur. Dr. Markowicz was willing to take on this complex surgery and had a very positive attitude toward success. The surgery was done in the New York Hospital for Special Surgery because Dr. Markowicz wanted the proper equipment and colleagues to be accessible. I had the surgery 10 weeks ago and am making very good progress. I will be going to physical therapy for several months and have great hope for a complete recovery. Dr Markowicz is a very patient and kind man - always taking time to answer all of my questions and to address concerns.

Just wish he was still at White Plains Hospital. He is the best.

I am a 50 yr old female who needed a partial knee replacement. Dr. Markowitz is the BEST! I couldnt walk for 2 yrs after another dr. fixed my meniscus and totally destroyed my knee in the process. I had the surgery and that night was up walking and climbing stairs at the hospital. Fast forward a year. My knee and mobility is outstanding. HE IS SIMPLE THE BEST

My experience with Dr. Markowicz is PAR EXCELLENCE !!!! His bedside manner is impeccable, his knowledge and ability to share it on layman’s terms is great. I am 84 y/o and have been avoiding knee replacement for many years. And this year I had to bite the bullet, I was scared that the rehab would take months. But I was operated on with total knee replacement robotically 7/23/20 and walked out of the hospital with a walker 3 days later. I was driving a few days after that. I have had no post operative pain. I am so thankful that I found Dr. Markowicz. Because I almost went to a factory type operation in Putnam Hospital. Dr. Markowicz listens, hears and acts on what you are feeling. Just a great doctor.

after hipp surgery in 2012 performed by dr Markowitz i started running in about 6 months I've since ran 10 half marathons and 1marathon at competitive pace while being in my sixtys thanks for job well done

Dr M is outstanding and develops an excellent rapport with his patients. He was thorough in my visits with him and offered me options before surgery. He did eventually do a knee replacement for me as gel shots didn't work. He was thorough and informative thru all the steps. It was a top rate experience and I am so glad a neighbor recommended him to me.

pleasant, but not helpful. Shrugged off my concerns and suggested I try alternative medicine and or acupuncture. Was not encouraging or helpful with real suggestions or diagnosis. Gave me info contradictory to what other had told me. Second opinion here was a waste of time, travel, etc. Also I was the first appt and he was 25 minutes late arriving.

I like dr markowitz. He is very nice. He helped me overcome my fear of surgery.
