Dr. Damon Petty, MD

Dr Petty performed the surgery on my left shoulder on the 10th of December. I had several follow up visits to check the progress of my shoulder surgery. Dr. Petty did a fantastic job of repairing my shoulder. My last visit was on 4-7 and I had a great experience with him and will not have to return again. I will go back to him if I need any more orthopedic surgery. I always recommend him to anyone needing orthopedic surgery. Thank you for a successful surgery.

I was able to get a convenient appointment and location was convenient. Dr. Petty was knowledgeable, helpful, and provided a clear diagnosis and treatment.

Excellent information about my condition and what could be done at first visit. Dr Petty is very direct, I had questions prepared and he answered them all and made sure I had time to ask anything else I needed.Two weeks out of shoulder surgery and regained 90%mobility already in one direction.

Dr. Petty has preformed one knee surgery on me and is about to perform another. He has also performed a PRP procedure on me for a torn bicep. I am in the armed contract security business and there’s no room for error. I train and compete constantly and the down side to that is injury. That’s why I chose Dr. Petty. He’s a perfectionist! This is why he has been selected to operate on top tier high performance athletes and individuals.

On the first appointment I waited over two hours before seeing the doctor. Had a good interaction with the doctor. Made a follow up appointment for 12:00 today because the nurse said that time would be good to get in quickly as it would be right when they came back from lunch. Checked in at 12:00. Waited till 12:40 and finally left. As I left I made a new appointment with a different doctor and asked if it was normal for Dr. Petty to run so far behind. The answer - 'Always'.My clients expect me to be on time with appointments and I expect nothing less from the professionals I hire. I did not ask for special treatment, I just asked they do what they said they would do - see me at 12:00. At the very least they should communicate if running off schedule.Dr. Petty is probably a good doctor but his adherence to scheduling is not.

After writing initial review I found that the other 1 star reviews mirror my experience with Dr. PETTY—seems to be theme of not bothering to continue with patients he deems of low surgical probability, has shocking lack of bedside manner and general coldness and disregard for patient feedback. I am in medical field and have worked alongside dozens of surgeons in specialties that are regarded with much greater respect and adulation than his and of far higher acuity, many of whom are known as “arrogant” but I must say Dr. PETTY is one of worst I’ve had the displeasure of meeting. I am not even sure if “meeting” is a fair descriptor as he barely acknowledged my existence as a human being. Also noticed a them amongst poor reviews coming from those with work-related injuries and those of female persuasion. Dr. Petty, I don’t care if you’ve operated on NFL athletes, that is no excuse for inability to behave like a compassionate human being or disregard your Hippocratic Oath.

My visit on July 29th, I went in because of rt knee pain. I was told by a friend that I would love Dr. Petty. After barely glancing at my xrays I got told to join a weight loss group and gym. He didn't even examine my knee or touch me. He even told me that I should be the size of my sister who was with me. I was humiliated and will never go back. I am not a famous athlete but I do have feelings and cried all the way home. Shame on you for treating people that way especially those who have struggled with weight problems their whole life. Thanks for that pep talk

He seemed rushed after I had drove an hour to be there from Fort Campbell. I was thinking being he is a well payed professional he would at least help. The answer of insoles is the wrong one as I have tried many that do not help at all. He is in my opinion a disappointment. I can hardly walk up stairs or inclines anymore and it’s only getting worse. But it was such a quick observation that how would he even understand that. He made his initial observation and recorded himself saying it, then he stood and walked to the door and on his way out asked if I had any questions. That in itself is unprofessional I feel if he had took the time to actually talk to me for a minute about what I need help with, this would have went better. This could just be the Tri-care insurance and that I’m in the military that he felt it didn’t matter. But nonetheless I will not return for the care I received on 06-25-24.

I finally found one of the best Orthopedic doctors in the Nashville area! Coming from a former healthcare background, I recognize excellence. Dr. Petty is professional, caring, extremely knowledgeable and listens. He provides you with options and a plan to help you get back to your goals of active living.

Dr. Petty is an exceptional healthcare provider and clearly in high demand. It is apparent that he actually listens to your concerns. He takes the time to explore options for treatment and is patient.
