Over the years I have had 3 rotator surgeries with Dr Barnthouse. (All different injuries). I have found him to be extremely competent and user friendly. He took the time to go over the MRIs and show what is wrong and how to repair it. He could seem a little gruff at first but he is a concerned person. NOTE: Be sure to ask any questions before he leaves the room. As you age (over 60) stop trying to lift sandbags, dropped motorcycles and large spare tires!

Dr. Barnthouse examined daughter's knee after it slammed onto basketball court in 1993. MRI's were relatively new and done in another office. He personally called me around 8pm to tell me that MRI showed crushed bone tissue and said no running, jumping for 6 wks or risk knee replacement before age 30. She's now 41 and knee is fine. Since then, he has done arthroscopy on my knee, son's shoulder, replaced Mother's 2 knees, Sister's 2 knees, my 2 knees, with no issues. He is best around.

Called to make an appointment and his receptionist was extremely rude and Since I had previous surgery basically told me Dr Barnthouse would only consider seeing me as a patient after I had all previous records sent to him for a review then would decide whether to see me. Then after questioning her about this she hung up on me. Not a very professional way to start a new patient consult.

Dr. Barnthouse is a good surgeon. However, beware of his office. I recently had knee surgery and asked if it was covered by my insurance and the office said "yes". After the surgery i learned that Dr. Barnthouse is NOT covered by my insurance plan and i had to pay out of network rates. So disappointed and although the office gave me a small discount, i had to pay on the spot. The office admitted they had no idea my insurance plan was not covered. I consider this a BIG miss. Be careful!!!

Massive waste of time, very unprofessional doctor. I had two appointments for a knee injury. First appointment, I came in and waited for an hour in the overfilled waiting area. Finally, got called and waited in the exam room for 30 more minutes! Not good that I am waiting 1.5 hours after my scheduled time, but whatever, it happens with doctors occasionally. Doctor finally comes in, does a quick 10 minute exam with few questions, and wants to book MRI. As I finally get to ask a single question,
