Dr Craig Messick is very thorough, and has excellent bedside manners. He saved my life two years ago when I was diagnosed with colon cancer, and I wasn’t given good news. I’ll be forever grateful for the treatment he provided. God bless Dr. Messick

I took my 83 year old mother to see Dr. Messick in August 2019 as she had recently been diagnosed with colon cancer. He told my mother that he would not operate on her due to her age. He claimed that most of the people over 75 that he operated on developed dementia due to the anesthesia. He told her he gets to decide who he operates on and he will not operate on her. Dr.Messick explained that she was going to die from colon cancer, but she lived a great life and she should enjoy the rest of her life. Three months later, my mother had surgery at Methodist Hospital. She did NOT develop dementia and she is cancer free one year following surgery. He should not accept patients over the age of 75 if he plans on giving them a death sentence rather than operating. My mother’s cancer was stage 3 and she would have suffered horribly and had a shorter life if she had listened to Dr. Messick. I find it interesting that she is unable to leave a comment on the MD Anderson site.
