About 25 years ago when Dr, McCannel was practicing at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, he save my eyesight. I had retinal tears in both eyes and he fixed everything, I cannot say too much about him that is positive, If you have an eye problem, go to him and he will give you the best care that could be imagined.

Outstanding Doctor/Surgeon
I had a cataract surgery on my left eye using a multifocal lens so I wouldn’t use glasses anymore. Unfortunately, the surgery caused a vitreous detachment. As a result, my vision continued to get worse every day due to a massive number of floaters blocking my vision due to the vitreous detachment. As a result, I had a hard-time reading and unconsciously tended to shake my head trying to clear the floaters out of my way. So, I saw multiple retina/vitreous doctors to see if anything could be done about this. Several doctors somewhat discouraged me from the surgery stating there was some risk with retina detachment and even my vision could get worse. Basically, I was encouraged to cope with the new vision. I also visited Dr. Colin McCannel for this annoying issue. After couple of visits, I got the impression that Dr. McCannel is a very competent, knowledgeable, and confident surgeon. He also thought that I should do the surgery and stated that I would be happy with the result.

One of the BEST EYE surgeons in USA
Dr. Colon McCannel & his wife Dr. Tara McCannel performed 3 surgeries on my wife’s eye to treat her Ocular Melanoma this year. Both are highly skilled & experienced in their field. They are highly respected & highly recommended by their peers in the Eye disease treatment field. We WOULD NOT go to anyone else but Dr. Colin & Dr. Tara McCannel for Eye treatment. I am scheduled for a surgery for the tear on my retina next week. I feel confident & comfortable that he is my surgeon & I feel in good hands. Thank you Dr. C & Dr. T McCannel for taking care of our family.

Brilliant, amazing doctor & surgeon. He saved my right eye from a detached retina and did a very successful vitrectomy on my left eye. Explains things well, answers all questions, and eases your anxiety. Very highly recommend!

I originally went to Dr. McCannel through recommendation from Baskin Palmer in Miami. While I have severe "dry eye" problems, I went to him for removal of an epi-membrane which resulted from Cataract surgery many years ago. I found Dr. McCannel to be extremely honorable as well as knowledgeable, and wanting to help me in any way possible when he realized the frustration the epi-membrane was causing me. He of course offered "no guarantees" of the surgical procedure to attempt peeling back the epi-membrane, but seeing my frustration, he was willing to try. He absolutely did everything he could to relieve the blurriness/downward slant to the right reading lines on paper or computer would present. December 2019 surgery took place, and Dr. McCannel did everything he could to bring relief from the problematic epi-membrane, telling me several months would be required to know the result of the surgery. At this time, I can only say Dr. McCannel is a man of his word!

Besides being an expert retina surgeon, Dr. McCannel is a caring, attentive and great communicator. Every visit with him leaves me feeling well informed and satisfied. He is also a good humored and most congenial man. He is well worth the wait.
