I saw Dr. Nelson in the emergency room at Scripps Encinitas. I’m sure you’ve heard of Angels in human form . . . he is one! Knowledgeable, kind, sympathetic. Listened with care, and he was able to calm me and explain what was causing my symptoms. I feel so lucky to have had him as my ER doctor.

I read these reviews and wonder if they’re fake. May 11th, I was T-boned by a drunk driver (she ran a red light and hit us at about 70 mph). I was heavily medicated/concussed the day of and felt like I was discharged prematurely… I came to SCRIPPS for a neck brace; I left fuming. He barged into my room, without intro, halfway into my triage and interrupted me mid sentence… I was explaining to my nurse my list of symptoms (typical back pain, neck stiffness, etc) and said “… oh! My attorney wanted me to make sure I mentioned EVERY symptom, so I wanted to mention mild vaginal numbness from time to time…” He cut me off with “YEAH, OKAY, DID YOUR ATTORNEY TO TELL YOU TO SAY THAT OR ARE YOU actually EXPERIENCING THIS?…” that “if what I said were true, I wouldn’t be walking” and swiftly left. I was shocked. Visually, I had severe bruising (a literal black eye with busted blood vessels), a large knot on my forehead, a hematoma that went from one end of my stomach to the other, a concussion and a suspected c-spine injury… internally, an abnormal synovial cyst was found on my brain. I had absolutely NOTHING to fake. That was the ONLY interaction I had with this guy, aside from watching him do other things for over an hour while I sat and then him pathetically giving me his business card for referrals at the end of my visit. I would honestly rather take my chances with literally dying while waiting on triage in Tri-City Medical than have to ever come back into contact with this sorry excuse for a doctor… He didn’t listen to me, nor did he medically evaluate me for himself, whatsoever. Unbeknownst to me, he also went on to type a very lengthy after summary visit essentially saying, medically, what I was saying was “impossible” and that I had no visible or remarkable injuries and then didn’t print it out for me to see… I found it through a different provider. Dr. Nelson is arrogant, dismissive, dishonest and disrespectful and I would seriously consider seeing this gentleman willingly. I now have a referral with UCSD medical for the brain nodule he said was “perfectly normal”.

Excellent professional calming attenion
Excellent professional, friendly calming attention to a very shocked, hurt and scared lady with terrifying facial injuries. Later evaluation in consultation with cosmetic surgeon? Dr Nelson did a very fine stitching job on eyelid, nose and cheek, and forehead. Thank you so much!

Dr. Nelson was my ER doctor at Scripps Encinitas. He was extremely, kind, caring, and thorough while being efficient and addressing everyone he was seeing. Right now the ERs are crazy and he seemed extremely cool, calm, collected and knowledgable and was definitely a calming, strong force in the ER. You can tell he really cares for his patients.
