Dr. Chrysten Cunningham, DO

After seeing Dr. Cunningham for the first time recently I left the office greatly uncomfortable with my experience. Despite Dr. Cunningham at points in our conversation trying to make me feel heard or understood, certain comments made were unsettling and borderline unacceptable. I feel as though I was disregarded, pushed to consider options or feel as though I had little choice to decisions I was from the start opposed to and clearly saying 'no' to, and genuine concerns were not taken seriously instead they were brushed off. Although I believe Dr. Cunningham does have some positive qualities as a provider, ultimately my experience left me feeling confused and unanswered - forcing me to seek a new provider.

The RN say, "Its says you're here or menopause SX, RREEAAALLYY?" & she looks at me, so I say "well, yes". She says, "ok you haven't had a period in 12 mo.?". I said, "perimenopause SX" & gave her my last period date. She says, "so you're here for more of a hormone consult". Ok not sure why the RN needed to correct me, I'm 40, it's possible. The doctor comes in, I start explaining about how I'm not sleeping for the 2nd half of my cycle, I'm having night sweats, hot slashes, & horribly sore breasts that just get better in time for my emotions to go haywire. She interrupts me to say, "have you thought about sleeping on a towel?" at this, I'm so flabbergasted, I say, "I understand the practical ways to deal with these things, that's not why I'm here". She recommends BC & to return in 6 mo. I asked her if she thought it was perimenopause SX, She said it vey well could be & that it would continue . I asked if was going to draw blood for hormone levels, no. I left feeling hopeless.

Dr. Cunningham is incredibly rude and unprofessional. I go in for a Pap smear and it turns into a lecture about my weight. She asks me about my exercising habits and I tell her that I’m working out 3-4 times a week, then she says “You know you’re overweight right?” NO DUH! That’s why I’m working out but that isn’t the point of this visit! Then we get to talking about my upcoming wedding and she tells me I need to lose weight so I can fit into my dress, and tells me what foods to cut back on. Ma’am, you are not a dietitian, and nor did I ask for your opinion. Dr. Cunningham needs to stick to just doing the basics of her job and leave her comments to herself.

Refused to see me after the office made a mistake with my insurance. I got there a half hour before my appointment, filled out countless papers, and still was not seen after an hour of being there. Terrible office, staff, and attitude of this doctor.
