Dr. Christopher Tonthat, DO

I was visiting my kids in Oroville and happened to end up in the hospital due to Sepsis and a nasty Kidney Stone and infection. I had the pleasure of having Dr. Tonthat as my doctor while I was in the Intensive Care Unit for almost a week. He is strikingly young but throrough and took the time to explain the plan every day until I was discharged. My sepsis was so bad that I even needed a special IV in my neck to give critical medicines. I have had this procedure done before and it had left a large bruise. This time there was no bruise and not even a mark. I also had to have a tube placed into my kidney to drain the blockage. This was all done very professsionally and painlessly. Overall I was very pleasantly surprised by the care I recieved at Oroville Hospital by all the nurses and doctors. If you ever have been to Oroville, you would understand how surprised I was to find good medical care in literally the middle of nowhere.

Had the pleasure of having an endoscopy procedure with Dr. Tonhtat, but then had an unrelated medical complication and ended up having to stay in the hospital for another week in the intensive care unit. Funnily enough, the doctor there was another Dr. TONHTAT. Turns out they are brothers and both doctors there. Very happy with my care by both. Not sure which is which though HAH

Dr. Tonthat took great care of my husband when he was was in the ICU for 2 weeks at Oroville Hospital. Younger doctor but was very knowledgeable and explained everything to us in simple terms. The nurses and ICU team were also amazing. Hopefully we never have to go back there but if we do, we know we are in good hands.

I had one of the worst hospital visits based on my treatment experience and Dr.Tonthat didn’t help. He gave me a diagnosis, that l believe, had no true evidence to reach and discharge me with; If there was evidence he didn't ever explain why. He didn't address my main injury along with others injuries I had. He never asked me what happened or why. And the diagnosis he had discharged me with he had not spoken to me about, he definitely didn't explain the reason for his conclusions. The man I saw was very young, I’m not sure how he’s been an internist for seven years.

Dr. Tonthat saved my father's life! He found a rare abnormality on my dad's EKG that many other doctors had missed in the past. He personally called an interventional cardiologist right then and there and got us an appointment the very next day. It turns out my dad had 3 blocked arteries in his heart. One triple bypass surgery later, my dad no longer has any symptoms and he can even walk up stairs! It is all thanks to Dr. Tonthat and his knowlege and care!!
