Negligent care
My child was having seizure like activity and we were advised by our pcp to take him to the ER, specifically Helen Devos, because of the specialty care. This has been my one and only experience with this hospital and it was unfortunate. Dr. Cahill walked into our room with a diagnosis before even speaking to me or looking at my child. He could only answer one of two important questions for diagnosis and left the second question unanswered with an “I don’t know” and no ambition to get the concern solved. He didn’t run a single test. My child continued to have seizure like activity at a higher rate than before and 3 months later was diagnosed with epilepsy only because I jumped through hoops and spoke to and met with several medical professionals in the time after this visit. Had Dr. Cahill done an EEG, which is what our pcp sent us for, we could have had a diagnosis and treatment plan the night we were in the ER. So much for emergency medical care.

Dr. Cahill might be one of the most well-educated emergency medicine physicians I've ever come across, as a patient and as a medical professional myself. He's very well versed in modern-day medicine along with a tremendous will to do right towards his patients. I wish I could making my personal physician, LOL.

We went to another ER prior to visiting HDVCH, so I feel that I can compare two experiences easily. Dr. Chris was everything we needed and could have hoped for. He was super attentive, asked many times if we had questions, took his time, and explained things to us very well. He was terrific.

Dr. Cahill lacks any form of good bedside manner. My son was seen by him yesterday and he showed no empathy for our concern. He treated us like we wasted time by coming in and that we needlessly exposed our son to more germs. My son is an asthmatic who has been wheezing for 10 days and we were directed to go to the ER by our PCP. He was very arrogant and stand offish and had very flippant responses to my questions. Very disappointed in the manner we were treated.

The ignorance and lack of intelligence displayed by this physician was baffling! Its unfortunate that this so-called physician even works in emergency medicine. Please educate yourself Sir and show some sort of intelligence and regard for the patients you see on a daily basis. I'm sadden that a person such as yourself can even be called a physician, you are not there to help but only judge and wear the coat. It is sad that SHwould employee with so little compassion and consideration.
