Stares out his window for 50 minutes
Competent at medication management, deeply flawed as a counselor. Catty and defensive over the mildest concerns/criticisms. There are better more worthwhile therapeutic modalities than talking at him while he watches the birds flap around outside his window.

I've been seeing Dr. Brubaker about 3.5 years now and have had a very positive experience. We first got referred to Dr. Brubaker for my middle-school age daughter who was dealing with anxiety and depression amid some stressful family changes. My daughter saw Dr. Brubaker weekly, until recently when she exited therapy with the anxiety and depression largely resolved. During most of the time she was in therapy, I would see Dr. Brubaker about once per month as well. This helped me deal with my own emotions around the difficult family dynamics and also allowed me to collaborate with Dr. Brubaker on how best to interact with my daughter in order to help her. Even though she has discontinued therapy, I have continued with once per month sessions as I find they are a helpful check-in for me and Dr. Brubaker always provides a safe sounding board which I really appreciate.

He took time to actively listen to my whole story, and why I came for a consult. He came across as kind and nonjudgmental, at the same time human. I would definitely like to have him as a regular provider if the circumstances had allowed. This was a second opinion on a difficult situation.
