I had an appointment with Dr. Clavell at NM Eye Associates and felt that her approach to patient care was lacking professionalism and empathy. My experience left me feeling unheard and unappreciated as a patient. I expect better from a medical professional.

Highly Recommend
Dr. Clavell is competent, compassionate, thorough and knowledgeable. She treated me for Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (PDR) - one of the most stressful diagnoses I have ever received and was very thankful that Dr. Clavell and her staff were there for me at this difficult time.

For: Dr. Christine I. Clavell MD. Opthalmologist
What makes a great doctor? For the last five years, Dr. Clavell has displayed medical competence and skill. she stabilized my macular degeneration and as of today, it remains stable. Dr. Clavell has very good communication skills. I was never wondering about my condition because she always involved me as to what was going on with my condition. Her interpersonal skills are excellent, I saw and heard her concern for her patients in the office during my appointments while I waited to be seen. Her medical management skills were always on display as soon as I entered her office and care. She managed her time professionally and in addition, she managed her technicians and other office staff with respect and precision, always respecting every ones time. Dr. Clavell is to be respected and admired, she is already highly educated and specialized and is still attending school, looking to further educate herself, to be there for her patients with the best and latest that education has to offer.

My experience with Dr. Clavell
My name is Gloria Schenck I have been a patient of Dr. Clavell for many years. I have macular degeneration in both eyes. I have been receiving eye shots over the years. Dr. Clavell is a very professional caring doctor. She shows concern for my condition and tells me the true nature of my disease and how it is reacting to the medication. I will miss her very much.

Excellent Retinal Doctor
Dr. Clavell is very thorough when checking for retinal tears or holes. She is very proactive. She does laser retinopexy on any tear or hole, the same day. Dr. Clavell will schedule a follow-up appointment on or about 3-4 weeks, to verify the laser retinopexy was successful. If touch up is needed, she will do it same day. She always listened to me, answered my questions, and explained what she discovered doing my retinal OD and OS exams.

Not just good, but truly GREAT!
Dr. Clavell has taken care of me for several years for my AMD. She injects Lucebtis every 4-5 weeks. Of the 4 retina doctors who have treated me since I was first diagnosed in 2013 (and each was very good), she is the most skilled at the procedure, and further, she tells you and shows you how things are going. She answers questions and takes the time to know her patients. She knows the eye being injected is my only good eye. Not only is the care process terrific, but I have not lost ANY vision at all in the AMD eye. THANK YOU for being such a caring doctor who has kept me from going blind.

Dr. Clavell has been treating my diabetic macular edema with eye injections for many years. Throughout my time with her she has been kind knowledgeable and attentive. She listens and and always takes the time to answer my questions. Her staff is great. Denise, Anna and Mary are always nice and happy to help. I have been very happy with the care and treatments I’ve been getting. The front desk is also very helpful. I would definitely recommend her to my family and friends.
