Dr gaffney was terrific at explaining what the issue was without being overly technical and making me feel like it was over my head. He really seems to care and that is rare these days

Dr. Gaffney was understanding and listened to me during every visit we had. He was always pleasant and explained the process in a way I could understand. I recovered quickly and felt awesome less than two weeks after my surgery. If you want an awesome doc to do your surgery, pick Dr. Gaffney.

Dr Gaffney took his time and made my daughter feel comfortable. He was patient and kind. Even after her back surgery, he showed compassion and we never felt rushed.

I met with Dr. Gaffney regarding a herniated disc. We tried a few options but ultimately decided on surgery. He made the whole process simple and so easy to understand. He explained the surgical procedure and showed me my MRI so I could fully understand what he was going to do. I've had quite a few surgeries over the years, by some highly qualified surgeons and I put Dr. Gaffney at the top with the best of them. Besides being a wonderful surgeon, he's a great guy with a great personality, and by the way, I'm totally free of back pain.

Dr. Gaffney was such a good surgeon and did an amazing job. He explained everything to me before he did anything and treated me with compassion. He also personally checked up on me afterwards. I wasn't just a number and best of all, my surgery was such a success.

Surgery I had was 100% successful. Wish I had it done years ago. Dr Gaffney was very caring and made sure everything went right.

Dr Gaffney is, personally and professionally, the best ortho surgeon my family or I have ever met. My mother broke her ankle several months ago - fractured in several places. We were nervous about the injury, but the Emergency Room doctor reassured us that Dr Gaffney was on call and that, “even though he looks like he is still in high school”, he is highly trained and would take great care of my mom. Sure enough, several months after a same day surgery, my mom has no pain, and is back to hiking and biking with zero pain. Black Hills Ortho once again proves that they are the absolute best.

I accompanied a friend to an appointment the other day with Dr. Gaffney and cannot express how impressed I was with him. He was so caring and knowledgeable, he took the time to answer every question (some more than once) and he made sure to stay until every question was answered. She was so nervous because of what she was expecting to hear but he completely calmed those fears. The appointment turned out better than we were expecting and not only because we found out surgery wasn’t needed but because of his care! I have seen a lot of medical provider and I can honestly say that the appointment with Dr. Gaffney was one of the best appointments I have ever attended. We are very lucky to have a doctor like him in our community!

After my experience with Dr. Gaffney, I would highly recommend him as a caring, thoughtful, and qualified surgeon. He took his time to discuss all my options after I got my MRI results. He even called me at my house to check in with me after the injection I had done. If you are in need of a spine surgeon, Dr. Gaffney is the one you want to make an appointment with.

I really enjoyed my visit with Dr. Gaffney. He was very informative and took his time with giving me all of the information I needed to make my decision on whether or not I should have surgery. He was amazing!

I just wanted to say that I have been fitting pain for over20 years with my back. I went in to see dr Gaffney and I was so impressed with the way he handled everything for me. He explained and showed me what he was going to do to fix the problem. I couldn’t even hardly walk when I went in for the surgery and it was almost like a miracle 4 hours later I walked out of there with no pain at all. I was sore the next day and a couple days after. It’s been 6 weeks now and I don’t have any more pain. I will definitely recommend him to any one who has any back problems.

I came to see Dr Gaffney for a 2nd opinion for an issue I was having with my back. He confirmed what the 1st Dr had stated. However, what impressed me so much with him was the time he spent to thoroughly explain my situation, the procedure I would need, and the recovery time I could expect. I had great deal of confidence in him after my initial consultation. Right after the procedure he came out and talked to my family to update them, and they had the same feelings about Dr Gaffney; a true professional that instilled confidence without sounding boastful. In subsequent follow ups, he showed the same professionalism and definitely gave me the feeling that he was genuine about my well being. I am now about 45 days out from my surgery and healing much faster than I expected. I wish I had come to him sooner than I did for this procedure. I can't recommend Dr Gaffney enough to anybody that would be considering using his services. Kudos to a superstar in my book!!!

With in 24 hours after a 6 hour surgery I was moving and walking with no nerve pain! I have personally recommended Dr Gaffney to many others with back pain.

Very complete treatment

Dr. Christian Gaffney, MD from the first office to the last one. Dr Gaffney was very up front with what was wrong and what was needed to be done. He took the time to let me know what the MRI said and showed me were the problem was, and how to fix it. I was in so much pain I walked bent over and off to one side. I am now walking upright with no pain. The team at Black Hills Orthopedic & Spin are great to work with and care about how you are and your needs. I can do my work with out pain and I would recommend Dr. Gaffney to any one that has a back problem or in need of a orthopedic and spine surgeon.

Dr Gaffney was very thorough with the care of my 17 year old when he broke his back. He wasnt judgemental as to the sporting activity that caused the injury. He was caring enough to help us get thru the healing process with goals and initiative to work towards to help the healing process.

Dr. Christian Gaffney is an amazing physician and surgeon! He listens carefully, explains things fully, and most importantly, is an extremely skilled surgeon. Prior to my surgery, a herniated disc in my neck was causing terrible pain in my shoulder and numbness in my hand. Dr. Gaffney performed a cervical disc replacement surgery and the instant I woke up, the pain was completely gone. It was unbelievable! My family and I are so grateful to him and his team! I recommend him to anyone in need of a spine surgeon!
