Dr. Chetankumar Patel, MD

I see Dr Patel for retina issues, but had to have a vitrectomy to remove a large floater. He was very thorough explaining the procedure and any risks associated with it. His staff is very friendly and efficient. I never have a problem getting an appointment, was even seen the next day when I had concerns post-surgery. I would highly recommend Dr Patel.

I was referred to Dr Patel for macular pucker care.I had my surgery February 2023… from the immediate post surgery I knew something was wrong. I had a steroid response to the drops, a severe reaction. I asked the doctor and his staff repeatedly to check my eye for signs of glaucoma, being told multiple times I was healing well and fine.. I was told if the doctor thought I had glaucoma he would send me to a specialist for it… I took it upon myself to seek out a specialist myself. Sure enough I have glaucoma! I learned that my eye pressure was elevated a year before my surgery, ( it was taken on every pre op appointment, and I was never told about the risks with a elevated eye pressure… or was it addressed. Dr Patel didn’t listen to my concerns and rushes through examinations, he showed no concern for my pre op elevated eye pressures. I would recommend a more thorough RS who isn’t in a hurry and is more focused on details and his patients concerns

I have an 88 year old mother with macular degeneration and has already had cataract surgery in both eyes. She is now seeing flashes of light and is worried something more serious is wrong. I called this office to see if they took Medicare and asked if the exam would be covered by Medicare. I was told that she actually had to see the doctor before they could tell me that????? So that means if Medicare doesn't cover it, my Mom would be expected to pay out of pocket for the visit. She cannot afford that. I called another ophthalmologist and was told that Medicare would cover the exam and her supplemental would pick up the rest. Doesn't make sense that they couldn't tell me that at this office.
