Dr. Cassandra Sims, MD

When I initially started seeing Dr. Sims, I enjoyed her doctor and social skills. That all changed when I got sick and did not want to take a medication she prescribed because it made me sick. I felt her whole attitude changed. In two different appointments she mocked me. One was when I had something that an antibiotic would have helped. She said since I don't like taking medicine she won't give it to me. The second time was when she insisted on seeing me after I was in the hospital for me to get the medication they prescribed to me. Yup, my hospital doctor called it over to Kaiser and she blocked it. I did see her to get this medicine and then I changed doctors. If you do everything her way, you will be fine. If you question or refuse, choose a different doctor.

I chose Dr. Sims because she was ranked as one of the best doctor's in the Kaiser system. However, I found her to be repeatedly dismissive & condescending. At first, I thought she was just overworked, but this behavior continued in every interaction. During my first visit, I mentioned repeatedly that I had been off my Rx for several months because I had a lapse in insurance. It didn't register for her at all. It wasn't until she was trying to rush me out the door that I asked about blood work. She asked me why that was necessary. Again I reiterated that I had been off my medication because I hadn't had insurance and needed a baseline reading. It was only then that she actually heard what I had been saying the whole visit. She was more focused on charting than listening. At that appointment, she also didn't address the main reason for my visit. I had to send her a message several weeks later to discuss. Over all, a very poor experience.
