Dr Nebbe - Psychiatry for Depression, ADHD
Dr. Nebbe is amazing. Very well informed, attentive, and responsive to patients' needs. Puts emphasis on clinical diagnosis and fights red tape to put the patient first. Best healthcare provider I've ever had! (He's also a really nice guy and is great to talk to.)

Disrespectful and dismisses patient concerns.
Dr Nebbe ignored the symptoms I expressed difficulty with and said that since I've done so well in school, I'm clearly not having issues and am just picking myself apart trying to find something wrong. When I said it frustrated me that he dismissed my symptoms because I did well in school, he argued that that was not he said, then rephrased it and basically said the exact same thing again. I do not feel that he listens to my concerns and I don't feel respected by him. I feel anxious before appointments with him because I'm scared he's going to dismiss whatever I say and not take me seriously. I've now started going to someone else who actually listens to and respects me.

I would strongly recommend Carver Nebbe, MD to my friends to any and all my friends and family members, with the understanding that he only works with ISU students at the Thielen Health Center. I worked with Dr. Nebbe six years through some difficult mental health episodes and he got me through them. He literally saved my life or two occasions. I appreciate Dr. Nebbe's approach to mental health. Even when he has been making difficult decisions he was upfront about why he was making the decision he made. I have had several psychiatrists that I didn't feel like I could trust with the intimate details of my mental health. Dr. Nebbe is one of the few I could open up with. Dr. Nebbe is certainly the most trustworthy psychiatrist I have ever worked with (and I have worked with five to six psychiatrists).

I have a particularly complicated case of chronic depression. I have been to roughly 7 psychiatrists over the years (He is dual certified in Psychiatry & Family Medicine) and I can honestly say that Nebbe has been the best of of them. After more than 3 years he still has new ideas to try to help me with the depression. He listens to me if I am having a negative reaction to the medication (even if he encourages me to stay on the medication for a week or so). I trust him more than any other MD.
