Dr. Carrie Twedt, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Twedt's during the summer of 2021. In my late 2nd trimester, Dr. Twedt wanted to discuss the not-yet-FDA-approved Coronavirus vaccine with me. I expressed my hesitancy to which she responded with 'if you get corona, you and your baby could likely die' as she pressured me to get the vaccine. She was absolutely terrible in how she spoke to me, a first time mom during Covid, and I was in tears after leaving the appointment.

I had a 34 week check up with Dr. Twedt recently and had questions regarding my delivery. I started the conversation by stating that I was working on my birth plan and wanted to ask how the hospital/providers viewed certain topics. This was my first time at Piedmont obgyn- Maxwell Pointe that I felt rushed and disrespected. The Dr. seemed annoyed that I was asking questions at all. Most of her responses were generic and unhelpful, some were down right rude. When asking about different positions to give birth she made the comment, “If you’re in a position where you can poop on my face, there’s not much I can do to help you deliver”. Not necessary or professional. To answer another one of my questions she told me that unless I had a doctorate’s degree and practiced obstetrics for 20+ years I “needn’t worry myself about it”. Very condescending. At the end she told me that I can’t be a control freak and need to allow them to do their job. Not a control freak, just trying to have a voice.

Dr. Twedt brushed off my concerns about a health condition, and didn't take me seriously. She claims to treat PCOS, but after seeing a reproductive endocrinologist, my dosage was doubled and I was put on a different kind of birth control. Apparently the one she prescribed me is not the right kind for patients with PCOS. I think that she gets in a hurry and is very cavalier about treatment. After switching doctors I'm very happy with my new OB/GYN.
