Dr. Carolene Madden, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Madden for a couple of years now. She listens and interacts very well. I never feel rushed. She takes the time to have a meaningful conversation. Highly Recommend

Have to agree with the other negative reviews. She seems more concerned about getting through the appointment quickly and was dismissive about my concerns and questions. I switched to another primary care Dr. who is awesome and took care of the couple medical issues I had.

I had a similar experience to others here. When I couldn't get an appointment with my primary doctor, I saw a different doctor for an earlier appointment. Unfortunately, I found her behavior to be rude and dismissive. The way she spoke to me made me feel like my concerns were insignificant, and it seemed like she wanted to rush through the appointment without addressing my symptoms properly. There was no thorough examination or attention given to my specific issues. I have had similar experiences in the past, which makes me hesitant about seeing doctors. However, I must mention that the nurse who assisted me was fantastic and displayed the qualities I expect from a doctor. I would not recommend choosing this particular doctor based on my encounter.

She was the rudest and most unprofessional doctor I’ve ever encountered. I couldn’t get an appt with my primary anytime soon and she came highly recommend as a back up. From the start of my appt she had an attitude and I could tell she didn’t want to help me. I told her a few times that I sensed her uncalled for tone and if she didn’t want to help me she needed to find someone else who would. She told me she thought my appt request was “ridiculous” without asking me for details as to why I requested it. If only she asked me to explain or bothered to look at my history before being so rude and unprofessional. After I broke it down for her and she saw my history she didn’t find it so “ridiculous”. Then she wanted to “start over”. I’ve never experienced someone as awful as her.

While she's soft spoken, she barely spends any time with the patient. During a physical she only listened to lungs and heart and did absolutely nothing else. When I brought up questions on a couple health concerns her answer was this is not part of the physical...really?!!! What the heck is the physical for then? Isn't it to uncover underlying health issues? She did not do prostate check, did not do a reflex test, did not look at the eyes, barely looked at ears. Overall, I came out of the physical with no confidence in this doctor and certainly will not continue using her as my primary physician. If you want a physician that is thorough and willing to listen and investigate patient concerns Dr. Madden is definitely NOT the one!

She DOES NOT listen at all. She missed considering what medications I was on and wasn’t on whilst looking into getting me a referral to a specialist. Because of her mistake in communicating the wrong medications to the specialist, I can’t get my referral yet. She was also quite rude when I was communicating my past medical history with her. I’m leaving Kaiser because of this experience.

I do not recommend this dr. I don’t know how she became physician in charge at kaiser San Marcos. Do not want to give too many personal details of myself but dr Madden was the opposite of attentive and would always speak Spanish to me every time she saw me even though I only speak English. I came to her with a concern about my health and she said “don’t worry only white people” get that condition

I used to see Dr. Madden in Encinitas before she was with Kaiser. She really cares about her patients and took the time to help me with my weight, blood pressure, etc. Great bedside manner and very personable.

This woman is unfit to be practicing medicine. Absolutely horrible.

I appreciate the expert care and sensitivity I receive regarding all my medical concerns. KP is blessed having such a talented Family Medicine Doctor. I could not be more thankful.
