Inappropriate and Unprofessional
The first time I saw him I was 16 (female), and he gaslit me because I was "too young to have back pain." gave me a cortisone shot and sent me on my way. They did imaging but didn't tell me the result of it. I went back at 19 because of a flareup after some time in remission/less severe pain. We waited over three hours past our appointment time to be called back. He kept calling me "little lady" and other sort of pet names, which felt very inappropriate. My partner who went with me said they thought he was acting inappropriately to me as well. I've been having more flareups and have decided I will no longer see this doctor because I feel he acted inappropriately and unprofessionally towards me.

I had a huge back surgery by him about 12 years ago. It was a real mess. I did physical therapy for 5 years. It was futile. I walk bent over at the waist, and cannot stand up straight. I have to take pain medications, which keep me from being able to drive. My husband has to push me around in my wheelchair everywhere I go. I was a top notch church organist before the back surgery, but can’t sit on the bench, or play the pedals after having the surgery. I had scoliosis, and went to Dr, Bacon to make sure there was nothing new that might cause more problems with my back. He told me the curvature could puncture my heart or lungs, so I let him do the surgery because that scared me. I am MUCH worse than I was before the surgery.

Well, I went in for pain control because I know I’m going to need my 4-5 discs locked together eventually. I can’t do that anytime soon because I cannot miss that much work. So, I was set up for an injection on my left side by Dr. Colledge (who had just given me that same shot about a month ago and it did very little good). I think Dr. Bacon thought I had that shot on the right side. I’ve had two lumbar diseconomies because my leg and back were going nuts. Well, my leg is okay but I’ve developed scoliosis and my left leg gives way on me. Dr. Gardner said I have the what is reported as the highest level of pain (by survey). The top three are; child birth w/o pain relief; kidney stones and what I have. And what I have is number one. Even verified by a woman whose had all three. So, until I get the next surgery, I need pain relief. Not anymore injections because they are not effective for me. That’s what I came in for. I did get some tramadol. With no refills. Not really effective.

He may be a capable surgeon but his bedside manner is poor at best. I have multiple fractures and plenty of titanium in my leg. At my 2 week follow up he he said I could start walking on my non-weight bearing leg. I told him I thought he said it would be 6 weeks or longer before I could and it turns out he had me confused with another patient! Didn’t he read my chart? He stood in the open doorway the entire time and answered my questions with sarcastic answers like “yeah, your leg is broken”. I already knew that! He didn’t give me any follow up instructions for home care or physical therapy, he didn’t even look at my leg. I was given a photo copy of the X-rays they took and I had to hand it to him to answer my question. I don’t think he looked at them before coming to the room. I left as uninformed as I was before I went there. I am currently looking for a new Dr. who is capable of caring for the patient beyond the operating room.

This is on update on my review from Jan 15, 2016. Back at that time I had 4 vertebrae fused. Unfortunately the joint above my top fused vertebra started to collapse. To correct this, and to prevent any further deterioration of the spine, Dr. Bacon fused my back from my pelvis (S1) up through T10 in Jan of 2018. 11 months and one set of injections mid-back later, I'm doing well. Dr. Bacon and his PA Jeff Montgomery have been very thorough and caring. I am quite pleased with their care.

Escorted patient to Dr. Bacon after a break in upper spine. Every visit the wait was 2 hours or more and appointments were at 8 am! Most times we only saw an assistant. The back brace didn't didn't fit, kept sliding up and choking her, patient had dementia, and my concerns were swept away because when they asked her how she felt she'd say "Fine". 5 months later patient admitted to hospital and ortho said brace wasn't doing any good due to not isolating part of spine that was broken.

Dr Bacon is abrupt and dismissive. He did spinal surgery on me. He didn't provide sufficient pain relief in the hospital after surgery. I would however, highly recommend his PA Jeff.

2 months after first scheduling an appointment with Dr. Bacon I have the same pain in my back. After the 2 MRI's, 3 appointments, and cortisone shot, nothing is better. During the 3 appointments, he showed up twice. I spoke to him for just a few minutes. I was sent to the imaging department to get the cortisone shot. The person giving the shot injected me where he was instructed. It wasn't very close to where the issue is.

I waited two hours and fourty five minutes to see the Dr. and after describing my symptoms (weakness, numbness and pain) he stood me up, lightly shook my shoulders and declaired a diagnosis of degenratie disk disease. He refused a MRI stating "that would imply that there was something to look for". He left the room after 3 minutes, had his nurse prep me and later returned to give me an injetion and orders for PT. A MRI by another Dr. indicates multiple "severe" problems that require surgery.

Doctor Bacon And his PA. are the worst Doctors. If you have any postop problems they don't even take x-rays. Look at the insiton area to see what's going on. Instead they want to send you to a different doctor and have them numb the area so that you can't feel anything and want you out of their offices as fast as possible. So that way they can make some more money off more patients and Maybe even get to bouchée the Surgery so they can screw someone else's back.

Dr Bacon is always so kind and understanding. He listens to my concerns but I completely trust him with his decisions on what would be best for me and my health. He is the best Doctor I have ever had! Shawna is amazing as well. Always asks how I am doing and is so gentle when taking x-rays and putting on casts. She is defiantly a huge asset to the team. Drea... She knows the patients by name. She is always so nice and assists the patient with every need. She is so wonderful!!!!

I fractured my spine during an accident and Dr. Bacon was the orthopedist on call. When I was discharged from the ER and needed to schedule my follow-up appointment with Dr. Bacon, his staff was exceptionally helpful. With a very busy practice a wait time was expected for my follow-ups. This would be a main reason for the 4 stars. Great care, but there is a wait and face-time with the physician isn't much. Still felt he was a great physician, but not much time was spent with patient/provider.

My ankle injury was very serious and severe. It was referred to as catastrophic by the hospital personnel. Dr. Bacon was the Ortho surgeon on call that day. I have never dealt with him or his staff previously! As I am recovering, I have come to realize one important fact about Dr. Bacon, he did an AMAZING job on repairing my ankle. He performed a miracle. His skills and knowledge are extraordinary! I am healing very well and quickly... I am grateful!!!

It took a while for Dr. Bacon to arrive, but when he did, he was warm, pleasant, and direct. He really took the time to listen to me explain my injuries and concerns. I'd read some bad reviews before I went, but I decided to give him a try, and I'm glad I did. I think the reason he is late is because he really takes time to listen to his patients. The office staff were very polite and helpful. On my second visit, the P.A. J. Montgomery was very good also. He explained my MRI results very well.
