Great Job Dr Talmo
It has now been 9 years since my knee surgery. Talking to many others who have had knee replacements, it seems, I have had the best results ever. I know that is because of the excellent care I got from Dr Talmo and all of the staff at New England Baptist. After my replacement, I stayed one night in the hospital and was given pain killers that night and never needed another one after that. Yes, I was sore and achy but, an over the counter medication was good enough that first week to get me to relax and sleep well. I then did my PT and was able to ride my bike outside, very easily, in week 4. In 5 months, I was able to hike the Teton Crest trail with a 40-lb pack and with no worry, pain or discomfort. Dr Talmo's communication style is direct which works well for me and may not for others. That said, he gave me all the answers I asked for and more. The key to recovery for me was PT, ice and, at home, constant stretching.

100% success replacing my left knee
Dr. Talmo replaced my left knee 6 weeks ago, and honestly, I could not be happier. I walk about 1 1/2 miles a day, do stairs nearly normally, and have not had any pain in the last 2+ weeks. I was off the pain meds after 2 weeks. I still get some discomfort and stiffness when sitting for more than 5 minutes, but not pain. The staff is very attentive and helpful. I will certainly refer Dr. Talmo if a friend is in need of this surgery.

Wouldn't recommend
After waiting quite some time to see this surgeon, I found him to be very arrogant. He did not want to allow me time to ask my questions related to tkr. He actually left the room before my consult was finished. I can only imagine what he's like after surgery.

BiLateral knee replacements
Dr Talmo replaced both my knees at age 53 and I couldn’t be happier. He was thorough with explaining the procedure, what to expect and what my limits would be after. 1 year later I am doing amazing I would highly recommend this surgeon.

misplaced prosthetic causing chronic pain
Worst experience ever! He placed the cup of the THA too high catching my iliopsoas. I can have this redone but there is a greater chance of infection, and the PAIN of a long recovery makes this decision difficult. Stay away!!!

I had a knee revision in 2017 by Dr Talmo. He was the worse Dr I have ever had. 3 weeks after surgery he said everything looked fine. said he would see me in a year. 5 weeks after surgery I started to have complications. His staff is horrible and he would not see me. My leg got twisted and also loosened. I was down to 34 degrees range of motion. Then he even cancel my year follow up appointment. Going to therapy I ran into 2 other people that have had the same problems with this doctor. I just want to let everyone to know that if you have a problem he won’t help you. He thinks he is god. I would not ever recommend him.

Stay away from this doctor. Had surgery and due to Covid he cancelled my first post op visit. Had it rescheduled in 8 weeks. The office then cancelled my second visit I called his office because I was having extreme pain and was told by his rude office staff that he got the messages. When I finally went over their heads and spoke to the doctor he told me that he hadn’t gotten any messages. I had a total hip replacement and find it odd that after surgery I had knee pain. After a Telehealth visit he told me to follow up in 1 year. That’s a joke! I would never go back to him again

Dr. Talmo performed a revision of a 20 year old knee replacement that had become extremely painful & debilitating in recent months. I also have a old replacement in the other knee, both done elsewhere. I was overwhelmingly pleased with my pre-op discussion, review of X-rays, attention and care the day of surgery and my follow up. All my questions were answered clearly and directly. I am a seasoned trauma nurse ( 44 years in nursing) so I ask specifics with a critical eye and like direct answers and options. I had a plan to wait another 2 months and he was direct in that the damage was so severe at this time, waiting would only cause more damage. He was respective of my work schedule and my need to plan time away from work and we decided on a date that worked for both of us. I have since referred 3 people to his office and will continue to do so. Dr. Talmo's demeanor - " bedside manner" is friendly and caring. I cannot say enough good things.

Dr. Talmo performed a total hip replacement for me. Five weeks later I have almost complete mobility (and the last stiffnesses are rapidly improving), no pain, and with no restrictions on movement. I also very much appreciated the care taken by his office and New England Baptist Hospital, both as to the procedure, and for their diligence concerning COVID-19.

Dr. Talmo replaced my left knee in August, 2019 at NEBH. The process, from my initial visit to my one-year follow-up, has been exceptional. After the surgery I was out of the hospital in one day and received at-home nurse and PT visits arranged by Dr. Talmo’s office. I was walking independently in three weeks and playing golf in six weeks. Now, a year later, I never even think about the knee when doing tasks I could not do for the last five years. Friends recommended Dr. Talmo to me and I deeply appreciate their guidance.

I had a total hip replacement on 6/24/20. Six weeks later I am almost back to most activities and friends are amazed at my recovery when they see me. I have no doubt that I am doing so well because of the expertise Dr Talmo brings. My experience with him, his staff and New England Baptist Hospital could not have been better. Dr Talmo even checked in on me after I was home. Dr Talmo gave me my life back and for that I have extreme gratitude. Definite 5 stars

I highly recommend Dr Talmo who gave me a knee replacement in my left leg on December 30. The recovery has been fast, especially considering that I am 73 years old. I was riding an indoor exercise bike after about three weeks, and had regained full flexibility (with effort) after about six weeks. Now at ten weeks, I am back on my outdoor bicycle, beginning with rides of about four miles. Dr Talmo's skill at minimizing trauma to the soft tissues while inserting the artificial joint surely has been a factor in my rapid healing.

I had a total left knee replacement in December 2018. Thinking I had done my research and found a great doctor was short lived. The whole experience after the initial visit was a nightmare. Dr. Talmo had no communication with me after that initial visit. The pain was intense and never attended to at the hospital. After discharge I followed all the instructions that were given to me on paper, Today and everyday I regret my choice. My knee remains numb I can not kneel on it at all. It feels as if there is a wooden peg inside my knee holding the top and bottom together. I walk with a permanent limp and am in pain everyday. It is you choice who you decide to operate on you. I don't have it to do over again but would never ever recommend Dr. Talmo.
