I first saw Dr. Plager in January of 1981. I was 23 years old and had stage 4 metastatic malignant melanoma. As you can imagine, I was scared to death once I learned the stats on my condition. Dr. Plager was to the point, but in a soothing, reassuring way. After the full MD Anderson workup, Dr. Plager explained what he, in consultation with others, planned to do to treat my cancer. That was almost THIRTY NINE years ago, and as you can see, I am still here! Fortunately, Dr. Plager was my MD Anderson physician for the first couple of decades of follow up. He is a kind, thorough, caring physician. I have a couple of true heroes in my life. Dr. Plager is among them.

Dr.Plager treated me at MD Anderson in 1995-1996. I had Ewing’s Sarcoma behind my left eye. I am alive today because of him. No one compares to him. He is brilliant and so extremely dedicated to his field. I had a less than 10% chance of surviving. I have been cancer free since 1996. I am forever grateful . Sincerely, Kelly Frances Johnston
