Forever Thankful
I am forever grateful for Dr. Coimbra’s exquisite precision during my 12 hour surgery. He and Dr Rogers did a fabulous job with a large tumor in a very difficult place. Cranial nerves 4 through 11 were impacted. I am happy to report that I am 14 months post op with no signs of tumor and very minimal lasting issues. My life has returned to normal, which I wasn’t sure would happen. Thank you to both my doctors, who spent a large part of their life honing their craft so that people like me can live their best life. Dr Coimbra answered all of our questions, checked on me after surgery in the hospital, and has been great in the follow-up appointments.

There when I needed him
He was very knowledgeable when I was taken to Baylor after suffering a seizure following a fall a month prior. Did not know that I had a Subdural hematoma and Dr. Coimbra was the Neurosurgeon on duty! I was blessed in that even though my brain was bleeding, it was absorbing the blood so I did not have to have Dr. Coimbra do surgery to stop the bleeding! Had I needed surgery, he would have been the one! He kept us informed and I was told I only have a tiny scar on my brain! I dodged a bullet but glad Dr. Coimbra was available had I needed surgery!

Well, he called me stupid for insisting there was something wrong with the shunt he had placed in my brain. I found another doctor who confirmed that the shunt had indeed collapsed and needed to be replaced.

Dr. Coimbra is an outstanding physician and surgeon and has provided the best care. He has a great bedside manner and he is able to take complex information and break it down into lay terms so you can understand it. In addition, there was a high level of engagement post surgery at the hospital and then with followup in the office. Dr. Coimbra is very direct in his diagnosis, plan for surgery and followup treatment plan and he cares about his patients. I feel fortunate to be under Dr. Coimbra's care and highly recommend him.

Dr Coimbra is absolutely superb! He came highly recommended by the chief of staff at Baylor Dallas for my particularly challenging meningianoma in the summer of 2018. When it was discovered that I had a calcified mass on my brain, and that it had to be removed surgically, Dr Coimbra was the most knowledgeable surgeon to perform my 12 hour surgery. He had pioneered a minimally invasive procedure by going into my skull behind my right ear. He collaborated with Dr. Hahn of Medical City Dallas to remove one of the loops in my ear to gain access to the tumor, which was benign. He had to leave some of the tumor near the brain stem, for if he tried to get it all out, I could have had a massive stroke and been bedridden. The surgery was successful and it took a year to gradually, through physical therapy for me to regain most of my balance. Dr Coimbra is a gifted man, blessed with extraordinary gifts, skills, talents to know what to do, and how to do it. I am so grateful to him!

I have been going to Dr Coimbra for 12+ years ever since he removed a pituitary tumor. The operation was a success and I would not go to another neurosurgeon, as far as I am concerned, he is the best. Always answers my questions in detail. His staff is friendly, efficient and there is basically no wait time.

I was referred to Dr. Coimbra at Baylor Dallas by Dr. Spiros Manolidas from Baylor Grapevine. My first visit with Dr. Coimbra was on July 24th, 2019. My initial impression with Dr. Coimbra is that he is direct with you. He does not 'beat around the bush' to tell you something. He told us EVERYTHING that could go wrong before, during, and after surgery. IT WAS SCARY. The easiest way out was honeslty me dying on that operating table. BUT, that said, we (wife and I) left his office CONFIDENT that his experience of over a decade was more than sufficient to treat my acoustic neuroma tumor. Being so lost and afraid with this diagnosis, we needed to find an expert in this field of study. Dr. Coimbra is that person. It seemed that everyone in the DFW area at least knew Dr. Coimbra. His name carries weight when it comes to brain tumors as ONE of the head experts , pun intended, in the medical world. I highly respect Dr. Coimbra for his knowledge and dedication to helping people.

Dr. Coimbra performed my brain surgery to remove a left cerebellopontine angle meningioma on October 31. I can’t speak highly enough about him and all the staff at his office. He took tons of time before my surgery (during appointments) to answer every question I had. I felt confident and comfortable with him every step. He is kind and patient during office visits. I deal with stress by making jokes. He was ALL BUSINESS on my surgery day, but that was just fine with me. :) It’s scary and traumatic to get diagnosed with a brain tumor. It may sound crazy, but I’m grateful and thankful for having gone through this. It puts “things” into perspective. He’s the right doctor to help you through this.

I highly recommend Dr. Coimbra at Dallas Brain, Spine & Skull Base Surgery! When he told me the results of my MRI, I sought a second opinion from another well known Neurosurgeon in Dallas. The second Neurosurgeon not only agreed with Dr. Coimbra's diagnosis but referred me back to him, stating Coimbra was the best in Dallas for brain tumors! Since my surgery, I am continually amazed by the difference in my attitude and physical abilities. I have a new lease on life. Thank you Dr. Coimbra and your team.

Dr. Coimbra was actually the second opinion I was seeking after being diagnosed with a tumor around my pituitary stalk. The first surgeon did nothing but scare me. But I knew immediately that Dr Coimbra was the right surgeon for me. He walked me through everything and answered all of my and my husband’s questions. He was patient and kind and very knowledgeable. I had surgery in October 2018 and the outcome was greater than ever expected. He is an amazing doctor!

I was diagnosed with a very large petrous meningioma while working overseas. I researched treatment options in three different countries and every one of them bore a very high risk of causing certain degree of disability. Dr. Coimbra managed to treat my condition without any side effects. Dr. Coimbra explained very clearly all of the aspects of the treatment and kept following up on my recovery regardless of my country of work assignment. Dr. Coimbra partners only with top specialists in Dallas, TX area.

I would like to thank you, Dr. Coimbra for actually saving my life with your excellent skills on reading my Scans so thoroughly and making the right decision on timing of surgery. I would say to anyone that asks about a Neurosurgeon, you are on the top of my list. Thanks also to all your staffing personnel, they are top notch. You went above and beyond in your personal touch as far as explaining in detail my progress, scheduling my scans for future appointments, etc. You are truly a God send

I have been a patient of Dr. Coimbra since 2002. I literally owe my life to this great surgeon. When I went to Loma Linda for proton radiation, the expert there in my type of brain cancer stated that the resection that Dr. Coimbra did was the best she had ever seen. My cancer is extremely rare and most people do not live very long. There are no words to express my deep gratitude to Dr. Coimbra for his genuine concern, his expertise, and the outstanding care I have received for 16 years!!
