Dr Thomkins is rude and cold, I surely hope he is as good of a surgeon as his cocky attitude suggests. He is much more concerned with occasional swears from a distressed mother than he is with the comfort level and mental health of his parents. I found him to be rude & arrogant. he addressed a swear word from me over a crying uncomfortable 16 year old patient who had a terrible first experience. He lied to her several times over the course of her healing telling her multiple times that she could stay as long as she was ready then forced her out due to a staffing issue. Currently Shriners in Spokane has short staff losing 8 nurses to the mask mandate. It had become obvious over the course of the day that the staffing issue was the real problem but they just kept telling my daughter she was better than she realized. Which may be true, she was doing well physically but mentally was not. We finally had a plan she was comfortable and happy with and with a chuckle he ripped that away.

Excellent experience. Dr. Tompkins performed my daughters spinal fusion surgery in January 2019 at Shriners and did a fantastic job. Very personable and caring and she thankfully is without pain now.
