Dr. Brita Kriss, MD

Dr Kriss is an amazing surgeon. She was very kind and knowledgeable when I first met her. When I had a severe gallbladder attack months later and went to the ER around 11 pm at night, the staff of the hospital called her when I mentioned that I had had a consultation with her earlier that year. I was admitted to the hospital around 4 am and was told that she would be able to do my surgery the next day. The following morning, she came to my room to see me and discuss my upcoming surgery. It was then that I found out that she had come to the hospital on her day off to do my surgery. It was such a relief and comfort to me that she did my surgery as I had already met her months before and felt comfortable with her, as well as the fact that she had done this surgery for a few of my friends. At my follow up appointment, I thanked her again and she simply reached over and gave me a hug. I am very thankful for her and highly recommend her.

I think she saved my life by not operating. In a Hospital that has worst care in VA. Her team showed up to perform surgery. She was the most steady, ethical, honest professional in the building. God Bless her. Many thanks

Emergency Surgery for bowel blockage in Feb 2022. Surgery very early in the morning. 12" of bowel resected. Sepsis as well. I recovered fine. Pretty special surgeon indeed.

I had a bowel resection in June. The condition was an unexpected one. Surgery needed to be done in a timely manner. Dr. Kriss explained the procedure clearly. She is a personable individual that made me feel comfortable and secure in her care. I highly recommend Dr. Kriss.

I would definitely recommend Dr Kriss. First of all, she is a highly skilled surgeon, based on my experience with a bilateral hernia repair. I had a quick and painless recovery, able to get back to light exercise within just a couple days. It has now been a year since the repair and I have had no problems whatsoever. Secondly, she is a caring doctor, spending as much time as needed to answer questions and put you at ease. If I ever need a surgeon again, she will absolutely be my first choice!

From introduction through post surgery, Dr Kriss was professional, personable, thorough, accommodating and filled with comforting discussions about surgical and non-surgical things - truly helpful in soothing the fear of surgery.

You know you're surgeon is top notch when you write a review for one whom you had no choice in employing. During a visit to the ER for abdominal pain, I found out my appendix had nearly ruptured. I required immediate surgery and met Dr Kriss just moments before going under which was late in the evening. She was very knowledgeable of my condition and previewed the procedure with precision, all while being cheery despite her very long day.

Initial consultation was very pleasant. She took the time to get to know me and my condition, as well as my history. She was very thorough in her questioning as well as in her explanation to me of what she thought was going on. She sent me for a sonogram of the problem area and within 2 hours of my sono, she called me personally to discuss the findings and talk through next steps. Very happy with my care so far.

I am in the medical field so I am quite aware that there are good doctors and bad ones. I want to tell you that Dr. Kriss is an exceptional surgeon!! She explains surgery in great detail beforehand and takes her time to answer your questions. She is precise and detailed with her incisions. A couple of mine are only half an inch and hardly noticeable. I will happily recommend her to family and friends without hesitation.
