Dr. Brion Winston, MD

I think he listened well to my concerns and gave me some good rationale for future plans for my heart health.

Dr. Winston literally ran into my room, did not knock on the door and the rest of the 2 minutes he was in the room with me were such a whirlwind that the people at the front desk offered to help me find a different cardiologist to meet with next month to follow up. I can imagine he’s under immense pressure and time restraints as it seemed he was maybe hosting a visiting doctor but it left me feeling uncared for. I hope he isn’t like this with all of his patients and I hope he reads this and can recognize how the first 5 seconds of an appointment can make or break the patients’ spirit and trust. Shout out to nurses, PA’s and the welcoming staff at the check in and check out for reading the look on my face and helping me not have to see Dr. Winston ever again. Thank you to the nurse practitioner who explained more about the way my body works than Dr. Winston and took the time to answer all of my questions. If this is your first time seeing a cardiologist, do not see Dr. Winston.

Dr Winston was insightful and thorough. He has done a great job with our cardiology care. His compassionate manner, clear explanations, and excellent treatment recommendations have been invaluable. Many thanks Dr Winston!

Dr Winston was able to answer all my questions and concerns and made me feel comfortable in regard to the procedure.

As a mother it is my job to advocate for my children, as a nurse, it’s ingrained in me to care for and advocate for all humans. This Dr managed to make me feel like it was not my place to do either of these things in a matter of 5 minutes. My daughter and I were quickly dismissed by Dr Winston because last year everything was “normal”. In less than 5 minutes he told her to exercise more and eat less. When I asked questions he looked at my daughter and said “your mother is not your Dr or the patient here, you know that right?” That is true, but as a veteran nurse of 27 years I do know something about bedside manner and he has zero. He was insulting and dismissive. My daughter left that office saying -I knew he wouldn’t believe me. Shameful .

I have never had an experience with a healthcare professional that left me feeling more shut-down, unheard, steam-rolled, and anxious than the brief interaction that I had with him.All questions were not only ignored but genuinely spoken over as they were asked. My attempts at discussing my symptoms were only half heard, with me needing to repeat myself several times as he appeared disinterested in providing more attention to me than was required to quickly make his way through the three minute appointment.I have no idea how effective he is, he could possibly be a very good interventionist cardiologist. What I do know is that he has the ability to treat a patient like meat that needs to be quickly processed, and that lack of basic empathy and compassion is more than enough to make me not want to stick around and find out.

Took his time and engaged me in conversation to get to know me. His exam was thorough, and his kind, thoughtful approach gave me the confidence to choose him for my future cardiologist

DR. Winston is knowledgeable , competent, and experienced. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Winston provided care for my family member in a critical situation in the ER at St. Peter's Hospital. His accurate diagnosis, confident manner, and thoughtful explanations helped us make difficult decisions. If I ever need any heart or vascular procedures in his field, I would want Dr. Winston to be the surgeon. We are very grateful for his presence and expertise.

I did not have the opportunity to meet Dr. Winston prior to my procedure. He took the time immediately prior to the procedure to explain in detail what was going to happen, and he was very patient answering our many questions. The results of the procedure were not what we had hoped for. Dr. Winston took the time to meet with my spouse immediately after the procedure, and he took the time to walk back to my area with my spouse to speak with me again.

Trust your gut when you are uncomfortable with a Dr!!!!!! I didn't...... If these comments help just one person, then this is worth it. He needs work on his coarse demeanor, his hurried responses regarding giving a diagnosis and his egotistical attitude. 6 months later and my calf is still hurting. I have an appointment with another cardio/interventionist. Praise GOD! ! !

Had a catherization done by Dr Winston on 12/08/16. I found Dr. Winston to be arrogant, impatient, rude and condescending. He may be a fabulous interventionist, but his people skills are sub standard. Probably a good thing his patients are under anesthesia. My family had to request for him to come out to advise them how the procedure went. Not a doctor I want to have in charge of my cardiac condition. Perhaps age and experience will temper his attitude.
