If I could leave a review of 0, I would. Dr. Braumiller was the WORST psychiatrists I have had. Dr. Braumiller told me that my depression was all in my head and recommended taking my medication away and going to therapy. I have been going to therapy since I was nine, and I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety since I was 11, medicated since I was 12. I am 21 now, and throughout the years, I have tried to wean myself off of the medication due to hating the stigma around antidepressants, and I become severely suicidal. When I told Dr. Braumiller this, he called me dramatic, and told me to just take a higher dosage of my current medication. I told Dr. Braumiller that I did not want to take a higher dose because high dosages of medication normally make me feel loopy, and that I would like to do testing to find the right medication for me.

Wow these people go one time and leave a bad review? For me Dr Braumiller has been a total life saver! when I first went there from experiencing the deepest depression (never had depression before) due to Eustasis putting me on high doses of Seroquel. Doctor Braumiller gave me the correct diagnosis and the correct medications the first day! He is very to the point and for me that’s ok. I don’t need a doctor wrapping their arms around me and having pity. I just need a doctor who knows what he is doing and can help me mentally. That is what he is there for. If you need someone to coddle you that’s what therapy is for

My personal perception of him is based upon a telephone appointment; I did not meet him in person. In short, based upon my personal experience with him, I have the impression that he is prickly and defensive, like a cactus or barbed wire fence. The appointment was very awkward. He did not ask usual questions to get to know me or my situation. I did not feel as though he cared to know anything about me or how he could help. In my minds eye, I picture him as having a chip on his shoulder. I had two appointments with him, and both felt tense and strained, for reasons I don’t know. I would not recommend him to my family or friends.

This was my first visit as a 21 year old who believed I was finally going to take care of my mental health issues. Instead Dr. Braumiller seemed more interested in getting me out the door. I had a short 5 minute appointment with no introduction or even a smile from him; very baseline questions; no empathy for my mental condition; and an invalidation of my social anxiety of which Dr. Braumiller stated “well we all deal with that.” Also, he prescribed me a medication and did not explain it to me at all. I do want to thank the rest of the staff, especially your receptionist who helped calm me down after I had a panic attack and started crying due to how inhuman Dr. Braumiller made me feel. She also assured me that their clinical director would look over the visit and my medication to make sure everything was right for me, as well as rescheduling me with their other psychiatric provider.

I went into my appointment optimistic about treatment as my mental health was suffering. He did not listen to my symptoms (I went there because my therapist and doctor thought I was bipolar- which a later doctor told me I was a textbook case of.) However, he said I was just going through a rough patch and prescribed me an SSRI, which can (and was) detrimental to those with bipolar. If he had listened to me, I would not have spent a month in the worst mental shape I had ever been in. His nurses were nice and helpful when I finally reached them about getting off my medication.
