I am livid w the way Dr Richardson & Dr Bastian mishandled my postop pain. They completely failed me. I awoke w excruciating pain & was told I wld only need ibuprofen. Even after TWO hospital ER trips in agonizing misery (where at least I received one dose of IV morphine), both BVI docs still continued to turn a blind eye to my cries & pleas begging for appropriate pain relief. Not only was my pain invalidated & discredited by them, but I was also made to feel I was being overly-dramatic abt it. They showed not an ounce of basic human compassion. Their lack of empathy in an acute pain crisis was unforgivable. I wld strongly caution pts seeking throat surgery to find a different doctor who actually takes postop pain management seriously. Discuss your postop analgesia plan in advance & run like hell if the doctor invalidates your pain concerns or refuses to personalize a regimen to meet YOUR individual needs. The one-size-fits-all cookie cutter approach by the BVI docs is shameful!

A big shout out to the Bastian Voice Institute for the seamless way they manage patient-care, including diagnostics. Dr. Richardson is extremely competent. I had a laryngeal condition, which other ENTs could not explain. Dr. Richardson could win my confidence, as he explained the thing well and could simulate my problem during the examination.

I have HPV on my vocal cords and this is a specialty for Dr. Richardson. He is exceptionally competitant and empathetic, and we do the laser procedure right in his offices. Fast, painless and pretty easy, it gives me great confidence to entrust my care to an experienced specialist like him, and even easier since he’s a really nice person.

Very friendly and explains things very well, if you don’t understand something she will explain it until you do. Melissa Smithson is also very friendly and very helpful and explains things very well. Both are very Knoweledgable.

Let’s hope I don’t have to recommend Dr. Richardson, but if it comes to that, I would recommend him without hestitation. Excellent teaching, explaining, and communication presence!

Dr. Richardson has a very calm and open manner. I felt that he listened and asked questions that would get to a solution. The ease of just moving to another room in the same office space to do the testing was very convenient and practical and took the stress out of waiting for any results. He personally goes over your results in a very unhurried manner. Having an immediate diagnosis and plan walking out the door was very reassuring.
