Dr. Brent Barranco, MD

I never had one. I only saw his nurse once for about 8 minutes. He would agree to give me innocuous medication which I was taking when I switched to this chain practice, but he would then not prescribe them, with nonsensical reasons why he would't. I was far from seen as an individual human being by everyone I dealt with, which were nurses and receptionists.

I have been a patient since 2003 when I moved to Birmingham. Very pleased with my choice.

Dr. Barranco is very personable and friendly . He does not rush through but takes time to discuss and listen. He personally calls the patient to discuss biopsy results. He also has staff call the next day after a procedure to check on patient.

My experience with Dr. Barranco over the years has been outstanding. He helped guide and diagnose an issue that ultimately led to complete healing after before and after I received a Liver transplant. I've met and worked with many doctors over the years and in my opinion, Dr. Barranco ranks at the top for professionalism, courtesy, and ability to relate and talk to me as a patient. I highly recommend Dr. Brent Barranco.

Do your research and know that there are other options. My prescription was written incorrectly and misspelled on my follow up sheet after a colonoscopy/endoscopy, this mistake was blamed on the fact that he just dictates to the device what he wants typed and it was the devices error that he failed to catch. I needed to talk to his office multiple times while experiencing different side effects (many severe) from medications he prescribed. Any time I tried to contact this office it seemed to be a large inconvenience to him and his team at Brookwood Medical Center. For example I called at 9:00AM to explain that my hands and feet were going numb throughout the day, a quick google search told me that this was an uncommon side effect and to contact my doctor immediately. My call was not returned that day so I called again at 4:40, unfortunately they stop taking calls at 4:30 so I was directed to the nurse on call who said I “should probably skip the medication” that night and wait until th

Dr. Barranco is not only an outstanding physician but he has years of experience in his field. He is compassionate, listens intently to your problems and then chooses the best path for healing. I highly recommended him as well as his outstanding staff.

I have seen Dr. Barranco twice. He did my colonoscopy and recently did amber endoscopy. I have an appointment this week. I loved him and the staff at the endoscopy center at Brookwood. Dr. Barranco is very professional and has wonderful bedside manners. When I call his office at Brookwood, his staff is very helpful, professional, and sweet. I have also seen his nurse practitioner and she is also very professional and very kind. I would highly recommend the doctor and his staff to anyone!!!

I can't say enough great things about this awesome Doctor! He spent so much time in the room with me and prayed with me after my recent diagnosis. I would highly recommend him.. ??

Do not go to him!!!! There is no Dr/Patient confidentiality with this Dr. Has the worse bedside manner. Does not follow up with insurance companies either about approval for you meds. And does not recognize when he has been rude.

He listens and very understanding. His NP is just as awesome as he is. They make an awesome team!!!!

Dr Barranco and his staff have always provided me with excellent medical care at their Prattville Baptist Hospital location. His staff (Ginger, Melody, and Rose) are very knowledgeable and professional. They are all great! It sure beats driving to their Birmingham main office too! This is a convenience they provide to their patients and I truly appreciate it!
