Dr. Brendan O'Donnell, MD

In August of 2012, my disabled son sustained a supracondylar femur fracture. Dr. O'Donnell and his resident MD were asked to insert a femoral nerve catheter (FNC) for pain control. I also asked them to place an IV, as Max had limited vascular access and would be sedated for their procedure. Dr. O was very annoyed by this request, rolled his eyes, and replied, "We can't do a bunch of extra things, you know." He rapidly injected Propofol into Max's IV, despite the fact my son was screaming in pain. I was horrified!! Max had tremendous pain tolerance and was in agony. The resident struggled to place the FNC, during which time Dr. O and the resident discussed the recent birth of her child and her upcoming job at the VA. The FNC lasted < 6 hours, and was halfway out by the time Max returned to the floor. In 40 years of seeking care for my son, he was NEVER treated in such a non-professional manner with absolutely NO compassion. I would NOT recommend this patronizing, unkind MD to anyone!!!
