Incredible thorough Radiologist!
I was called back after a mammogram for an ultrasound of what turned out to be a benign lesion. But during the ultrasound, Dr Ahn discovered a small tumor that the mammogram missed which was invasive carcinoma. Had she not been so thorough, the cancer would have progressed until my next screening and become dangerous. She is incredibly thorough and straightforward. Exactly what you want in a radiologist! Highly recommend!

Cruel and Apathetic
My mother had the misfortune of having Dr. Ahn be her radiologist for an ultrasound following her mammogram. Dr. Ahn bluntly tells my mom that she has cancer. My mom was confused and concerned so she asks Dr. Ahn if she's completely sure and Dr. Ahn gets irritated, dismissively responds 'what else do you think it could be?' and then quickly leaves the room leaving my mom stunned. After getting a biopsy done with the HOD instead, my mom was more informed about having heterogeneously dense breast tissue and she was comforted by the other doctor. Dr. Ahn should have been the one to tell my mom this during the ultrasound but she instead scared my mom.Dr. Ahn has 0 compassion or empathy for patients and its unfortunate that VHC still has her as a radiologist despite the numerous complaints over the last 3 years (that we can see on this site). It is mind boggling to for a doctor to be so cold and apathetic to any patient. Please spare yourself the traumatic experience.

Brutal
My wife had an ultrasound following a mammogram. Dr. Ahn was stoic but professional during the exam. After it was over, she abruptly stated that she had bad news, my wife had breast cancer and should schedule a biopsy out front. She then left without offering the chance to ask questions or any additional information. It was brutal and unkind, and I’m shocked VHC would employ a doctor with no empathy or compassion. If she is such a skilled radiologist, VHC should let her read the images without interacting with patients.

Brutally lacking in empathy – Sep 24, 2024

Shouldn't be a doctor - zero compassion
Terrible experience with Dr. Ahn. She obviously isn't reading any feedback and doesn't seem to care about improving her bedside manner. She was cold, rude, lacking in basic social graces -- especially important when I felt uncomfortable with my boob hanging out. She lacks compassion -- an important virtue as a doctor. I know doctors need to be serious, esp about something like breast cancer, but good grief I'm still alive and not just a specimin. A veterinarian has more bedside manner! Here's some tips: Greet your patient. Mae eye contact. Establish some trust. Don't mumble your name. Don't reach for gloves in a cabinet instead of greeting your patient. Don't avoid questions or be annoyed if you are pushed for answers. Go into a field of medicine where it's okay to behave like a robot -- like a lab maybe?I've usually had good experiences getting a mammogram even though it is always painful. This time it was truly awful.

Worried patient – Jul 27, 2024

A robot has more compassion than she does
I've been a patient at this clinic for 15 years, dealing with multiple cysts and breast problems. Unfortunately, my recent experience with dr. Ahn was extremely disappointing. Despite having a good mammogram in May, I recently felt a large lump in my left breast.I met her for the first time today, she didn't introduce herself properly. She briefly mentioned my mammogram was negative and asked me to show her where the lump was. After I pointed it out, she quickly performed an ultrasound, and without much explanation, she abruptly told me it was just a fluid pocket and that I could go home. She then left the room without further discussion. This ‘interaction’ felt dismissive and heartless! In contrast, my experiences at VHC have always been positive, with staff there being nice and polite, even during multiple biopsies. This doctor should not be handling such critical health matters with such little care. She should be fired!!

Robot-like, unempathetic
Recently diagnosed with breast cancer, I had an sterootactic biopsy with Dr Ahn at VHC. To the best of my knowledge, she did a good job. However, she was extremely cold and did not provide time for questions and answers. She only asked my name, date of birth and on which breast the procedure was to be done - I bet she is obliged to ask those questions. Like other reviewers discussed, it is shocking that someone that unempathetic works at VHC and deals with cancer, or potential cancer patients. I have been at VHC a lot lately, and most doctors, nurses and technicians have been excellent and caring. Special thanks to the nurse who went far and beyond to make me feel comfortable and answered my questions.

Rude to the border of being terrifying
I was assigned Dr. Ahn to biopsy a lump in my breast. When she entered the room there was no discussion or hello. She said her name, did not ask mine, and immediately picked up supplies to get started. The nurse in the room became visibly nervous around her and Dr. Ann became frustrated when she handed her the wrong tool. The nurse, not the Dr, did her best to talk me through what was happening. After the procedure she immediately left and answered no questions despite me having several. I was in shock because I had never experienced such a cold, uninterested medical professional. Let alone one who is supposed to be shepharding patients through difficult moments. I am surprised VHC retains her on staff as the other professionals in the center are wonderful.

Know what to expect
After my first mammogram they called me back in for more testing. Everyone so far had been amazingly nice. The tech doing my second mammogram showed me the first pictures and you could clearly see what looked like a marble in the breast. When I went in for the ultra sound Dr Ahn didn’t say anything, she ran the ultra sound then in a fast monotone voice said “it’s just normal tissue, come back in a year, get dressed you can go home” then just left the room. She didn’t give me a chance to ask any questions or even process the news after fearing the worst for 2 weeks. I wasn’t even sure I had heard her correctly. She also left all the gel on me and I wasn’t sure how I was supposed to clean it off. It was so impersonal that I actually felt maybe she just didn’t want to work with me because of what I look like (non-binary). I don’t write bad reviews often but I wish I would have seen the other reviews before going to know what to expect.

Impatient and unkind - no solutions just problems
Went to VHC for the second time for a follow-up mammogram and she was so unkind and wouldn't explain why she couldn't run the screening (again) even with a disk and report. She also didn't want to give me her name but seeing her other reviews I understand why. I used to have such great care at VHC and wondering if she's why it's gone down hill.

Complete Lack of Empathy
During a routine screening my OBGYN noted a lump in my right breast and that my breast tissue was too dense to adequately screen by hand, so she ordered I get a bilateral ultrasound of both breasts. I'm 27, so felt a little unsettled but appreciated her prudence. I saw Dr. Ahn this morning and just like other reviews here, she was completely robotic. She flung into the room, mumbled her name, and said "You have a lump on your right breast?" She quickly performed the ultrasound but only on the spot with the lump. She didn't do the full bilateral that my OBGYN had ordered. After less than 30 seconds, she said "Okay looks normal. Don't come back for this until you're 40", then left the room with gel all over me. I had to use the sheets on the hospital bed to wipe the gel off. Overall, just a horrible experience. I still feel concerned that I should get the full screening to be careful, and she made me feel stupid for getting this procedure before 40 even though my provider recommended it.

cold unprofessional radiologist
Never heard of her, was told she will be performing my ultrasound, she perform the whole process like a robot, told me I'm ok, left the gel all over for me to clean up, ran out the room immediately, had to find the technician on my way out of the room to get an idea of what to expect and what this means. This woman probably should not be in this profession, unless if she expect people to read her mind. Other staff were nicer at the women's radiology center. Certainly do not want her to do my next ultrasound.

Dr. Ahn doesn't act as though the patient is really there... just the image on the screen. I've seen her twice now for breast ultrasounds and her manner is very distracted. The first time I was in for an ultrasound, she asked if the lump in my right breast that I was being evaluated for had shrunk since I'd made the appointment. I said yes, it did in fact seem to have gotten a bit smaller. She replied in a very offhand manner, "Yeah, cause the one on the left is a LOT bigger." Ummm... what? There's one on the left? The second time I was there she left the gel all over me, didn't give me anything to clean up with, and took off like she had something burning on the stove. A women's breast center doesn't seem like the best place for her to practice her craft.

Oh my gosh. How I wish I had read the above review before having Dr. Ahn perform my core biopsy. She was rushed, cold and barely communicative. She finished up and then nearly ran from the room. I looked up and yelled "wait!" just as she was pulling the curtains closed as she tried to leave without telling me ANYTHING. I know you have to have pathology reports before knowing anything definitive, but I asked "so, how did it look, Doctor?" and she just said hurriedly "Oh it doesn't scream out cancer" pulled the curtains shut and ran off. Luckily it was benign, but my breast was more bruised than you can imagine, and stayed that way for several weeks. Subsequently, I am three months post-biopsy and have a large hematoma that has still not healed. I am now looking for a breast specialist to see why it's not healing properly. Even when I phoned her after two months, Dr. Ahn was rushed. Other docs who did follow up were fine. Find someone else!

If you want... -to be cut off while asking questions about the lumps in both of your breast by an eye rolling doctor... - a doctor who does not go over your mammogram results with you and behaves as if you wanting to know anything about you exam results is a massive inconvenience... -to attend your 6 month follow up and only be told, “See you in 6 months,” while you are sitting in the lobby... -don’t want your doctor to tell you where the lumps in your breast are... Go See Her!
