Everything has been reported to Virginia Dept of Health Professions, Virginia Medical Board, etc. The way you deteriorated my health because of your inability to understand serious symptoms and the need to treat them immediately is an exemplary indicator of everything that is wrong with this country's Healthcare system. Doctors in it for all the wrong reasons...I was taken to the ER at VCU Hospital because my condition was serious. Soon after, I was admitted to the hospital for urgent treatment. The doctors were surprised by how bad things had become due to the delays i

Poor Level of Care
I went to a gastroenterologist for severe gastrointestinal problems. I had an appointment with a nurse practitioner, but this has caused issues in the past due to their limited knowledge. After my blood tests, I was told the results would take two weeks. As my symptoms got worse, I waited, but nothing changed. I was taken to the ER at VCU Hospital because my condition was serious. Soon after, I was admitted to the hospital for urgent treatment. The doctors were surprised by how bad things had become due to the delays in Farmville.

very smart, up to date
I'm in health care myself. Quick evaluation and plan for my condition by Dr Bal, fast phone call with results of abnormal test results, quick diagnosis of a (serious) condition, very clear plan with rationale. Complete control of problem as well. Pleasant interaction with scheduling and with nurse who reviewed colonoscopy prep on the phone--good details on written instructions for prep. A few previous interactions with midlevel nurse practitioner for another issue was not great. Charmless and misinterpreted a test ( I looked it up later). That was several years ago, so may not reflect on current midlevels' care.

I never saw Dr. Bal. I met with a nurse two times. They did not listen to my concerns. My symptoms were not correctly charted. I felt disrespected the entire visit (both times). If you actually want help, do go to this office!

I’ve seen at least 5 different gastro doctors for my chronic condition. I’ve recently moved in the area and my primary care physician recommended Dr. Bal. He has been WONDERFUL.

Yes, I had both a colonoscopy and endoscopy. Dr. Bal and his office did a good job of explaining the procedures and providing support. Though the wait time was a bit long before my office visit, he was thorough and very personable during our initial meeting. Once I was there for the procedure. Everything was right on time and he did a thorough followup.

Horrible. He spent more time telling me when NOT to contact him then caring about my pain. He’s not in the medical profession to help people. He’s in it for the money. Stay away. You’re just wasting your time. I now drive and hour to see a doctor in Richmond and he is amazing. I wish I didn’t waste my time with Dr Bal.

In 2016 I had pancreatitis. Dr. Bal was thorough, professional and personable. He did everything he could and eventually got me to where I needed to go. I completely trust this doctor and that’s important. His office staff is also helpful and friendly!
