True Disdain for the Patient
If you're seeking a cognitive function (dementia, alzheimers) diagnosis and care, I'd caution using Dr. Garratt. Her bedside manner is cold, condescending, dismissive, inconvenienced and impatient to name a few. She exudes a true disdain for the patient. And, God forbid you ask questions. The whole experience, from the waiting room to the intake room to then moving to the doctor's room is cold and impersonal. This is not someone I would recommend subjecting yourself or loved ones to when it comes to navigating such a heartbreaking and challenging condition.

Impressive
I would describe Dr. Garratt as mildly brusque, concise, and intelligent. My first thoughts were “I’m impressed,” and I could clearly see she was disappointed in my prior care and mismanagement of my RLS. I didn’t take this personally and trust me, it’s not personal. It’s her job. I saw her again today and was even more impressed. If you read the bad reviews and take them to heart, you’ll miss the opportunity to receive truly excellent and thoughtful medical care. As the child of a physician and with experience in receiving treatment from bad doctors, I feel grateful for Dr. Garratt. She’s outstanding. PS. Her staff is also kind and thorough, don’t know why people had to complain about everything! I mean, really. Think about how to behave and realize your behavior and demeanor are often reflected back towards you. That’s the nicest way I can think to describe what may have made anyone think these nice people are anything but.

If you are seeking the rudest, least caring doctor ever... If you enjoy being told it's all in your head, with no exam, being cut off, scolded for speaking, and talked down to at our your 1st appt, this is the place! I had already been diagnosed with advanced peripheral neuropathy from Chemotherapy, long thoracic nerve lesions, and paralyzed serratus anterior. I need a walker, and I'm on disability for these conditions. I went to this particular doc at the insistence of my oncologist, yet she looked at me, completely puzzled the whole time, as if I came to her for a sore throat. Told me she didn't know what I wanted from her or why I'd come. I waited 5 months, traveled a very painful 2+ hour trip, and paid for a driver for this visit I'd look elsewhere.

Dr. Garratt is great. Unbelievable are some of these reviews!! Doctors aren’t doctors bc of their personalities…. You shouldn’t be looking for a ‘personality’ these days for your healthcare. You should be looking for the doctors who got A’s in school- not those who got by on lots of charm. It’s rare to find both. Dr. Garratt is honest, straight to the point, and tuned into patient’s medical needs. She is not interested in over-medicating, which many doctors nowadays are. If you are looking for a great neurologist, I highly recommend her.

She was cold in mannerisms she insulted me as well she was irritated by my appt. "why are you here? Your previous doctor say you are fine. I had to call another doctor to get the proper testing done to confirm my hunch about my illness. I googled her and thought she was the best in the field to be greatly disappointed by her lack of manners, and professionalism. I left upset and sick I do not recommend her!

If I could give 0 stars I would. She is the worst and most uncompassionate doctor I've ever seen in my life. She talks all monotone. And then got mad at me for saying I am trying to get disability since I have seizures that harm me (and could harm others) on jobs, regardless of my medications. She said "There are people who work 80 hours a week with Epilepsy!" Okay...name one. We can't EVEN DRIVE. When we got to the topic of other family members having epilepsy, I brought up my dad and how he drowned in my pool from a seizure when no one was home (mind you, my mom was with me in the office for this visit) and that I'm afraid a freak accident could occur to myself also. My mom started crying and then I started crying. Betsy said, "What are you guys crying about?" Ummm my mom's husband and my own father drowned in our pool. Did you even listen to what I just said??? She's only it for the money. She didn't even try to comfort me or my mom. She didn't care SHE MADE US CRY!

Dr. Garratt has been unbelieveable, she been great, asked many questions and answered many questions, she has ran many tests before I was diagnosed with CIPD, I fully trust her opinions on her treatment plan for diagnosis. Very kind and professional.

I have visited Dr. Garratt’s office twice and both times she was very professional and very kind. She really showed an interest in my medical problems. I did not have to wait very long for her to see me and she did not rush my visits. She also administered an EMG test and although the test is not very pleasant she did all she could to make me as comfortable as possible. I highly recommend her.

I am so surprised by all the negative experiences other patients have had. She has been nothing less than professional, caring and supportive since I first encountered her as a patient, while admitted in Parma Hospital. I am so happy I did not see these reviews prior to visiting her, I would have been very misguided. Someone explained to me, only unhappy people leave reviews, so I thought I'd display a positive review for the happy people.

I saw dr Garrett in 11/17 for my moms advancing memory loss. Need a letter to take to court. She didn’t believe me and thought my mom was fine to live on her own. In fact she ask if she could talk with my siblings. They both agreed Ed 100% with my estimate and wanted to go to court . She refused and we went another route and finally got my mom in a safe place. Very unprofessional physician, would not recommend her to anyone.

My mother saw Dr. Garrett in March. My mom who for three years has been displaying increased signs of memory loss, among other issues, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in December of 2017. We came to her for another opinion and after two rude visits, an incorrectly read MRI, and dismissing all the patient charts I had taken over four months, she said my mom had "severe anxiety" not Alzheimer's and could recover. This was wrong! Please don't let your loved one's see her. What a waste of our time!

Simply an awful doctor running an awful office... Th office staff are uncaring and rude. As others have mentioned, Dr. Betsy Garratt could care less about the distress her patients are facing. As a first time patient, I would never see her again. I had a horrendous, disconcerting experience. She demonstrates no sympathy or doctorly concern whatsoever.

I had a miserable experience at the office of Dr. Betsy Garratt. How can she call herself a doctor if she is unwilling to properly treat her patients. Her office staff are some of the worst I have ever encountered. Simply an awful experience at her office... A doctor who does not care about her patients, especially first time patients, is no doctor at all, regardless of how much higher learning she has.

Dr. Garratt had seen my father because I along with several other people (including other Doctors) have noticed that he was showing signs of Dementia/Alzeimers and to have him see a specialist. I would not considered Dr. Garratt a specialist at all, I wouldn't even consider her a Doctor. She told my father that he was fine there was nothing wrong with him and it was normal aging. I had given a brief example to another neuroloist of what we are noticing and he said there is a definate concern.

No compassion. I am going through the same illness that my dad went through (which ended up killing him). She basically told me that my dad was stupid about his illness. My mom came with me to explain to her what happened when I had a recent seizure. She insulted MY MOM also who was just there to explain the seizure to her. Upsetting me was one thing, but upsetting my mother was the last straw! We were both crying at the end of this appointment. Don't go to her if you want a caring doctor.
