Dr. Bethany Barrow, MD

I've seen Dr. Barrow a few times now. It can be difficult to get a read on her, as she does not really interact so much as she listens and concludes. She does not come off as friendly, but she does know her stuff and can definitely be compassionate. If you can handle a doctor who is missing the kinder aspects of medicine, and can handle what can sometimes come off as a lack of expression, then you will get a doctor who does listen to you, does help you, and does know what she's talking about. Absolutely not for everyone, especially if you're looking for warmth in your care. BUT - after having warm doctors who essentially don't listen and dismiss my complaints as nothing, I will take her over all of the rest. Having a doc that works with you beats out 'I know best' every single time.

I read multiple reviews saying that this provider seemed uninterested, rude and annoyed. I deeply regret not listening. I am sure if you are a thin, already fairly healthy person, that Dr Barrows is probably a wonderful physician and I am glad if that is your experience. But if you have health issues and are fat, I would strongly strongly recommend finding a different provider. I left feeling humiliated, unheard and dismissed completely. I was basically told that I couldn't be helped until I lost weight. I cried in my car after my appointment and just felt absolutely awful. I cried after I got home. I cried before I went to bed. And I'm crying as a write this review. I read my after visit notes on my MyChart and even the notes Dr Barrows wrote felt snarky and unsympathetic. Medicine as a whole is unkind and uncaring to fat patients. Navigating the medical system as a fat human being is scary and often times painful. Dr's like Barrows are why I often prefer not to seek care..

She was nice and professional. She listened to me and gave some comforting advice . She was quick when it came to the exam. I don't have one negative thing to say about Dr. Barrow .

Over a month now and still can't get my test results. Very unhelpful MD.

She looked at me like I was crazy. She was rude and acted like she was less than happy to be helping me. I left feeling hopeless with little resolution.
