Beth Salyer MD
last minute switched OB at 22w, Beth Salyer was my OB I got assigned with. I’m a very anxious patient, appreciated how calm Salyer was at every appointment, I can see how this could come off as not caring. I’m also a nervous talker and tend to ramble, Salyer would never make me feel rushed or that I was taking up her time, but I did feel I waited long for her in the waiting rooms sometimes 30mins plus. I often would ramble conversation she told me she has 4 kids and used to be in the military which I enjoyed learning she’s a very good listener but I did feel when I brought up Labor concerns they would get brushed aside, I was a very low case pregnancy with no health issues. As a first pregnancy I talked with her about what to expect and what I wanted in my birth plan which was a Natural Birth, she was totally on board with that but she wanted me to keep an open mind just in case. I ended up not having her as my delivery doctor on my due date.

  • Appointment wasn't rushed

  • Staff wasn't friendly
  • Long wait times

Prepare for a c section
I had my first kid a couple months ago, and it was by far the worst experience of my life. Dr Salyer made me feel like my preferences and thoughts were irrelevant. I had a written birth preference sheet, and literally not a single thing on it was followed. She talked at me, not too me.From the moment I met her when I got to the hospital, she made it clear that she wanted to do a c section. This was something that I only wanted to do in case of an emergency, and wanted to avoid if at all possible. I felt very pressured and backed into a corner, and ultimately had a c section that I didn't want or need.I am not sure if she gets more money or if it's just faster and easier for her, but she seems to prefer c sections in my experience. Unless you want to feel like you have no control over what's happening to you, and you'd like to have a c section, I would find a better provider.
