Dr. Benjamin Torrez, DO

He wanted to cut me from day one. I have knee arthritis. Told me not to do PT because did not work. Went to another orthopedic clinic. They gave me an injection and did PT. My pain is gone. I would not recommend this provider. His main worry is $.

Do not waste your time seeing this individual. Agree with prior reviews. He thinks he is God and you will wait for more than an hour. First time I saw him I waited an hour and a half to hear that I needed a cortisone injection that only helped for 2 days. He did not even show me the x-rays or even look at me. The second time was even worse. He made fun of me.

Initially I had a good impression of this doctor, then just one week before I was to have surgery I was informed it was canceled. Instead of telling me weeks before, I was told that day that I needed to lose weight before I could have surgery. I was devastated. I had waited over a year to have this procedure. I have not heard anything at all from that doctor since then. I would not recommend this doctor or this practice.

Came to see Dr.Torrey to get help about catching in the back of my knee. He said I needed surgery and then I would be good to go. The pain and catching continues 6 weeks after post op. Not only did I wait over an hour yesterday just to be seen but I waited an hour for him to tell me there’s nothing he could do but a steroid shot. If that was the case in the FIRST place I would have never had surgery and caused myself more pain. I will be contacting people for a second opinion. I will not be returning back. He also likes to make fun of peoples weights even if they’re not in the room with you.

Dr. Torrez is caring for my dad after a hip fracture in the middle of a pandemic. Can't say enough good things about his compassion, his skill and his communication. He is patient, understanding and never seems to be in a hurry when talking to family. Highly recommend.

I am more than satisfied with my experience with Dr Torres. I was given a clear diagnose and recommendation concerning a painfull right knee. As hospital ERs began to shut down prior to my schedualed procedure I was moved to a neighboring hospital latter in the day for what was the last elective procedure of the COVID shut down. The rehab has been successfull. If Dr Torres had not been willing to move and stay late I would still be limping around with no chance of summer activities that I enjoy. Thank you.

Dr. Torres fixed up my torn shoulder and its 100% normal again. Before surgery I couldn't lift my arm from a fall. I love his demeanor and clear explanations. He has a his sense of honor, expertise in his field and thestaff in that office are fantastic.

Dr. Torrez is a good communicator and made me feel secure in his care.

You just can’t help but like the guy. Calm and soft spoken. Explains things well, listens well. You can tell bc when he answers your questions he actually answers the questions you asked. Would recommend him to everyone.

I was a patient in this office for years, when my doctor retired, he referred me to Dr. Torrez, a HUGE mistake! He didn't show up for the first appointment, and the second one he spent 30 minutes accusing me of being a drug seeker and refusing to even do a physical exam! Filed a complaint with Iowa Medical Board and had surgery at UIHC instead where a large mass was removed from my knee. Dr. Torrez is a poor excuse for a healthcare provider!

Dr. Torrez is a great doctor and does high quality work. He is also a personable, cheerful guy and his staff is pleasant and great to work with. He was able to clearly explain to me what my issue was, why it was happening and suggest the best solution. He performed the needed surgery and it went very well with great success. I recommend Dr. Torrez!
