I would not recommend Dr. Clair. I have to find another surgeon to FIX what he horribly messed up.

Not impressed
After my ankle was badly broken back in the ‘60’s, arthritis set in 40 years later. I chose to have it replaced by Dr. Clair. First he neglected to tell me to take aspirin during recovery to avoid blood clots ( he called it a “miscommunication “). I landed in the hospital with 3 clots in my lungs. When I was due to go in for a recheck, I was told he no longer worked there. I found another doctor and after reading my x-rays, he said he was NOT impressed with the quality of the surgery and wanted to do a revision. After what I went thru the first time, I’m really dragging my feet on going thru that again. It still hurts most the time, but I’m not ready to do it again!

Where is he now???
I broke my ankle bad at work. Had a plate and 9 screws on exterior and then two interior screws to hold ankle together. Dr Clair was nothing but professional and he did an excellent job with my surgery. Then bam he's gone. Where has he gone because I could really use his services again. I've been told by other doctors in one of his former practices that his work was very well done. Please Dr Clair where are you?

Bad results are one thing- giving up is another.
I had 3 foot surgeries by Dr Clair. All were unsuccessful and have left me in pain. There was zero effort to correct the matter. Never recommended to take vitamins, stopped taking X-rays, tried passing me off to physical therapy after more than a year of doing all I could in PT. I was sold a surgery that I should never have had and then not given the care I needed after it went bad.

I had a surgical procedure to stabilize an ankle that he stated was a normal procedure for him. Two years later I still had a lot of pain and had another TCO surgeon perform an ankle fusion, that surgeon told me the previous procedure was out of the scope of Clair’s skill set, and poorly done. So I have permanent damage from Clair that could only be minimized by the fusion

He performed foot surgery on me in 2018 and I was told he was going to do a gastroc tendon release but what he really did was cut my achilles tendon in half. He just left me to suffer for over 2 years before I could get in to see someone who was highly rated. Now I am left with permanent damage and the orthopedic group he worked for terminated him and their insurance carrier MMIC does not want to compensate me for the additional 3 surgeries I have had to endure. They stated that there consulting expert supports the care and treatment provided to me by Dr. Clair. They respectfully deny my claim. Who in there right mind thinks that cutting someone's achilles tendon in half and leaving them suffer for over 2 years believes that is good care????

I had surgery for Plantar Fasciitis July30, 2021. He cut down the inside of my ankle and now 17 months later my foot is more painful then it was before surgery and I have a big gouge where the nerves were all cut and are still very sensitive. I had to get rid of more than 20 pairs of shoes that I could not wear after surgery. I saw a different doctor last summer and the 1st thing he said was "I am sorry this happened to you." I am also sorry I had the surgery. I would like to know if TCO can help me with this matter.

Made the worst decision ever in my life to have Dr Ben Clair do my left foot and ankle Surgery. He left TCO shortly after doing my surgery. I have not been able to stand on my foot for more then 2 hrs at a time with out numbness and swelling occuring. Wake up almost every night between 2 - 4 am w/ major foot and lower leg pain. Wish I knew what he really did to my foot and ankle. I thought he was going to do a wonderful job but he had me fooled. Wish he knew how much he screwed my life up with this surgery..

He botched my surgery left me walking around on Foote which needed a triple fusion done to fix all underlying issues currently. I am very thankful Allina Health they proactively figured in minimal time and did surgery to give some quality of life, I believe Benjamin knew this and deflected it altogether. I would never recommend him because he truly thinks he knows all.

My toe is absolutely NUMB and painful!!!!! We moved to Florida and I very upset that can't go to Dr. Clair and look to his eyes and ask him how he cut my nerve that all my life now I have to live with my NUMB toes!!!! I took my adult son who has autism to see Dr Claire about a painful foot issue. It was the best medical encounter I’ve had with my son in a very long time! Dr Claire gave my son time to answer and ask questions. The dr was genuine in his interest in my sons daily activities. He described the options clearly. My son is feeling much better after an injection - which Dr Claire made as painless as possible - and for once he had a good experience at a medical appointment. Highly recommend!

I’ve only had my initial visit but already impressed with Dr Clair and his staff. He asked questions and listened. Made sure that tests were going to be arranged along with a follow up visit. Received a call to schedule a MRI within an hour of leaving the appointment and had the scan that afternoon. My great toe was broken almost a year ago and despite seeing two other doctors there is little improvement. So far this experience has been completely different. I’m optimistically hopeful!

I visited Dr. Clair for a second opinion after the recommendation from a friend that works with him. I have a Jones Fracture and currently the healing process has not being going as well as we had hoped. When I went to Dr. Clair, I felt "heard" and that he truly cared about what I was hoping to get out of my treatment. He recommended surgery which I believe is the right course of action for both the physical healing of my foot but also the mental confidence I need from my foot to perform and live my life they way I would like to.
