Long Term Patient
I have been a patient of Dr Shuman coming up on 17 years now. At 57 I was diagnosed with stage 3 bladder cancer and I was treated that year by him, and I still see him every year for a check up. Dr Shuman in not only very competent but a kind and caring human being!

Atrocious
I have never been treated with this kind of disrespect and lack of sympathy. If you're looking for someone to actually listen to you and be a decent human being...look elsewhere.

Dr Shuman is great with my husband who has a hearing deficit. He sits in front of Dan so Dan can read his lips. He speaks distinctly. We seldom have to wait long to obtain an appointment and the wait time in the office is tolerable.

I had a very bad experience with Dr. Schuman. My PSA tests showed an increase in PSA, so he wanted to do a prostate biopsy. I researched this procedure through many journals. Dr. Shuman said anaesthesia wasn't necessary for 12+ samples; a journal article said if a doctor insisted on a biopsy with no anaesthesia, run for the hills! Dr. Shuman also refused a bacterial check of fecal bacteria for drug resistance. I went to another Dr. who used anaesthesia: no pain. I had resistant fecal bacteria.

I can only review person who returned my call on Friday and again on Monday. Can't review Dr. as I can't get past the rudeness of staff. Hung up on twice. Promised a call back Friday after speaking with someone at 9 AM. Called back at 4 PM as morning phone promise of call back hadn't happened. Rude person hung up on me while I was crying. Person called back on Monday, was rude asked if "I wanted the appointment" I said no and started to explain why, hung up on again....

Dr. Shuman is one of the best 2 doctor's i ever had. I am probably the biggest pain in his butt since he started practicing. DR. Shuman has removed more than 30 of my 82 kidney stones. The one stone i had was 22mm, i thought he would have his hands full. Let me tell you he wasted no time working on this large stone, he dove right in no questios asked. All in all he removed the behemoth stone and the relief was speechless. i would recommend DR. Shuman to anyone who needs kidney help.

Today, Friday, October 7, 2016, I had an appointment with Dr. Shuman for 10:15 AM. I checked in and waited 30 minutes for them to usher me into an examining room. 50 minutes later, the doctor came in and said nothing about being sorry for the inordinate amount of time I had to wait, and when I asked him what was going on, he immediately became defensive, and abusive and said I could leave if I didn't like it. Which did. Very unprofessional. He obviously overbooked and didn't want to own it.

Dr. Shuman and his staff have been excellent in taking care of my needs, including time sensitive issues. Sometimes you wait a bit longer than you would like, but I work in the health care field. We ALL sometimes wait longer that we would like, but they have never kept me a ridiculous amount of time. They are also friendly, caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable. I can ask no more of a Doctor and his staff.

I wouldn't recommend this office for my dog. I scheduled this appointment two months in advance and was told to arrive at 2:30 pm. I show up at 2:20 pm and the scheduler didn't even look at me, she continued on with her conversation for three or four minutes about a recipe. I then completed the paper work and 45 minutes later was taken to an exam room, where I proceeded to wait for almost an hour. After almost two hours of waiting (total), i had to leave. Very poor. Would not recommend.

He is always very thorough and asks a lot of question about how you feel. He wants to make sure he has a clear picture before he recommends a plan of treatment. He took over my treatment from my primary care over 3 years ago. It was not being managed properly and ever since I have been on an upswing and feel fantastic.
