Rude and Unprofessional
Doctor Vail didn't have any interest or allow me to ask any questions. I had to wait for her assistant to give me all the details once Dr. Vail left the room. She showed zero interest in anything I had to say. Be prepared to for long wait times followed by a rushed appointment by a rude doctor! Only positive at this office is the friendly assistants who are kind and compassionate once the doctor leaves the room.

Bad experience
Brought my disabled daughter to her for rash and suspicious mole. After waiting 30 min, daughter changed in gown, doctor came in said she could only look at rash or mole , not both. Would need to come back for another appointment. Felt the doctor was only interested in making money off my disabled daughter. My family has never been treated so poorly.

Truthful and Honest
I have been a patient with Dr. Vail from my adolescence to my adult life. Simply put, she is honest and truthful in her opinion on a given matter as far as I have seen. I have seen comments from other providers about bedside manner issues, but let’s face it- that’s just how Doctors are for the most part. She’s factual with her findings and is to the point. That is why I choose to go back to Dr. Vail time and time again and forgo seeing any other dermatologist.

Rude and unprofessional
Dragged out the treatment plan as much as possible. Very cold and distant. If it takes you 10 days to make a call for a patient, and 2 weeks to return a call, you are in the wrong business. Don’t waste your time.

I was a loyal patient of Dr. Vail for several years. I referred several people to her practice. She was always thorough during full body checks but seemed overly ambitious with the “zapper spray” and biopsies. I had an appt scheduled and a few days prior to that appt a voicemail reminder was left on my home phone. I proceeded to my appt and upon arrival the male receptionist, who I think is her husband, RUDELY told me I was an hour late for my appt and that I would have to reschedule. When I tried to clarify the appt time, he interrupted me and said I may be responsible to pay for an “appointment no show”. His demeanor was grossly unprofessional. I left the practice and I am happily receiving respectful greetings and treatment with an acclaimed dermatologist. I have since heard Dr Vail has lost several patients due to unsettling office management.

My family have been patients of Dr. Vail from her previous practice and then stayed with her when she opened her own. I’ve called two times during business hours, no one answers the phones and voicemail directs you to leave a message on the appointment line. I am now leaving the practice after calling and requesting an appt I have not received a return call for the 2nd time. My mother left the practice after she felt Dr. Vail rushed through an appt. Bc she was so behind, after my mother sat and waited for her appt. My teen daughter was not happy with the care she received regarding her acne and left the office crying. It’s unfortunate, I used to recommend this practice. She runs the office like a business but the office staff is awful, they need customer service training. I would look elsewhere for a dermatologist.

This was my first and last visit to this doctor. She was rude and reeked of self-importance as she barked orders at her assistant. Poor guy. I recommend she pursue a new profession under a staircase somewhere so she doesn’t have to deal with people.

I am posting this for my 87 YO mother's experience. My mother had an appointment to see the Dr whom she has seen in the past. While she was waiting in the waiting room to be seen she pulled down her mask to speak on her cell phone. She is very forgetful at times. She was the only person in the waiting room ( she stated) When she was called to the counter they informed her she would not be seen because she had pulled her mask down. She would need to call for another appointment. When she called today to reschedule she was told that the Dr would no longer take care of her because of this issue. I just can't believe the insensitivity of this physician. I hope at 87 you don't have to experience this. These are challenging times especially for the elderly. I have been in active healthcare for 40 years and have never experienced something like this! NEVER EVER would recommend this physician.

Our entire family has been seeing Dr. Vail for many years. She has not helped any of us with our skin issues. She keeps trying different things and says we have to wait 3 months to see if it works. When it doesn't she tries something else. The office called to tell me they are no longer going to recommend that insurance cover my adult acne medication. I told them that I don't understand and that its very disappointing and that I've been aggravated with the practice in general. The person who called me hung up on me and the practice sent a letter stating that I was terminated from their practice due to my "abusive behavior." Abusive? Telling them that I've been disappointed with the practice? No voice raising, no name calling, no swearing, no nothing, but I was abusive? This all in the middle of the state shut down so I am left without a dermatologist. Beware of this practice. Not only are they incompetent, they are dangerously unattached to their patient's well-being.

I made an appointment to have a dermatological checkup to check for melanomas or other pre cancerous items. I had not been seen in 3 years and was told that I was considered a new patient and had to complete paperwork upon my arrival for the appointment. Several weeks later I received bill which charged my a "new patient" rate which upon research with my carrier is 20% more than a existing patient. Not a lot of money $24 but I was never advised when I made the appointment and when I called to protest the staff became rude and said nothing we can do you have to pay. I deducted the 20% and sent a check as payment in full.

I went to Barbara Vail several times and each time felt extremely rushed. This practice is located in my hometown, however at the time I lived an hour away. They would always pressure me to pre-schedule appointments, but I would always tell them that I would have to wait. I received a call THE DAY before my graduation telling me that I had an appointment for the day after I graduated. I called to tell them that I did not make this appointment and was not in the area. About a week later I received a charge for a cancelled appointment. Upon calling them, I was met with the most disrespectful man telling me that I was a liar, and that they would take me to court. He was so mean that he made me cry. I refuse to put my money towards a place that 1. disrespects their customers and makes them feel awful and 2. rushes through appointments and prescribes topicals that NEVER work. I now drive an additional 20 minutes to another, much better dermo just so I don’t have to go to Barbara Vail.

I saw Dr. Vail many years ago for something on my stomach. It was benign and she removed it and left no scar. I was very happy with the result. Recently I had another occasion to see her again. This time she did a biopsy on a mark on my face. She was pretty sure it was just a bit of sun damage, but she wanted to be 100% certain. Luckily, it was nothing to worry about but I appreciated her proactive approach. I will go to her again for anything I am suspicious about.

Terrible, from the moment you walk into the reception you feel unwelocme, Dr Vail could not care less about her patients, and seemingly doesn't care about her reviews either as she seems not to change her attitude

Really disappointed in our visit. While scheduling the appt I called and specifically asked if they did cyst excision and was told yes. The second we walked in the room we were told “I only do want I want to do and I don’t do those” by Dr. Vail and that they refer out to surgeons thus making our entire visit unnecessary. Was also there for a skin screening and basically just got lectured that since he’s 35 there’s no concern and there was zero reason for him to have a skin screening. Uncalled fo

I felt very disrespected by Dr. Vail and her staff. After waiting over 30 minutes in her waiting room, I politely asked when I would be taken. I was brought back to her treatment room only to be dismissed by Dr. Vail. As a side note, I previously had been charged $50 and paid for a missed appointment that her office changed after leaving me a voicemail to change my original appointment. I respected their time and would appreciate the same courtesy in return.
