Complete disconnect
I was referred to Dr Findley for severe period pain and he seemed confident I had endometriosis. He sent me to imaging (ultrasound) which found nothing but he said I should get surgery to find out if it exists. No more explanation needed or options. I wasn’t sure I wanted to do that and asked if I could have one pain pill per month prescribed for now to manage it, and he said no. I can’t believe how uncomfortable and unheard I was in his office..

Dismissive of serious concerns
I have endometriosis and visited with Dr. Findley to consult about a potential excision surgery to remove any tissue that had been missed by my previous ablation. After a short exam he told me he did not believe my chronic, debilitating pain was caused endometriosis. Then he asked me if I had ever been sexually assaulted and told me that my pain was likely due to that. He recommended I get on psych meds.I went to a different specialist in Colorado shortly afterwards who found that my appendix was 3x the size it should have been (due to the endometriosis) and I had endo tissue that needed to be removed causing me pain. Dr. Findley dismissed my concerns and put my health at risk, as well as my mental health by bringing up events completely irrelevant to my already surgically diagnosed endometriosis.I highly recommend no woman see Dr. Findley for help with chronic pain as his dismissive attitude is dangerous to patients health.

Warning: Dr. Findley dismissed my legitimate concerns and downplayed my pain, suggesting it was a psychological issue. He recommended unnecessary organ removal without believing it would solve my problem. I’ve experienced heavy and painful periods since 12. This issue has rarely been taken seriously, despite talking to many doctors about it over the years. I saw Dr. Findley a year ago. I asked for a laparoscopy, to look for endometriosis. He told me, verbatim, “I don’t like to do a laparoscopy unless I’m removing a uterus”. In addition to my uterus, he also wanted to remove my Fallopian tubes and appendix “to simplify the pain picture”. The most upsetting part was that he followed by saying he didn’t think removing any of these organs would even solve my pain problem. He said he believed I had a syndrome treated with psych drugs and “behavioral health interventions”, insinuating that the chronic pain I’d been enduring throughout my adult life was merely psychological. However, puzzlingly, he still wanted to proceed with the extensive surgery, including the removal of multiple organs. I was devastated. I felt I’d been given the infamous and archaic “hysteria” diagnosis. Thankfully, another doctor agreed to perform a laparoscopy to investigate endometriosis. The procedure revealed and addressed the endometriosis, while leaving my organs intact. I’m relieved to say that my pain has not returned since the procedure.

Great Surgeon!
Great experience! I had a large uterine tumor that needed to be removed. Dr. Findley worked me into his schedule quickly. He is a good listener who always wanted me to be a part of any decision making. He, also, worked hard to preserve my uterus as I haven't had children yet which was such a wonderful blessing! He even valued the cosmetic outcome of the surgery by repairing my incision with hidden stitches and doing a more complex surgical method to help minimize my scaring. I do not have a single complaint about my pre-operative, operative and post operative care with Dr. Findley at KU Medical Center. It was all great! I highly recommend him! I sure hope to never need another ob/gyn surgery, but if I do, I know who I will call!

Saw him for only a few minutes. Visit rushed and felt like he had better things to do than see me. I asked for a recommendation for another provider for another issue and he said he would have the office call me because he did not know of a doctor. Never heard back. Won't be back.

I had a major surgery a year ago. Initial evaluation by my then doctor was that it was going to be an open invasive surgery. I was super nervous and unsure about the outcome. I went to Dr. Findley to explore possibilities of a less invasive procedure. And am I glad that i did!!! He explained to me patiently what I could expect and yes, a less invasive surgery was possible. I was in the hospital overnight, as opposed to at least three days had i taken the earlier suggested route. And a couple of days later, he called me at home to find house I was doing. By far, the best doctor I have ever had the privilege of being treated by.
