Do NOT recommend
I first saw Venkatesh as an inpatient at one of the hospitals he works at, then as a client at his private practice, when I was in high school. He spends hardly any time on individual patients and it feels like little care or regard is given towards them. My mother recalls poor 'bedside manners' and we both remember me being drugged to high heaven when I left the hospital. Even the well intended and caring, but still stressed and overworked, nurse practitioner I saw at the private practice was surprised when he saw the dosage I was on. All in all, my experience with him is probably the worst experience I've had with any doctor, psychiatric or not, to date.

Doesn't follow up
Dr. Venkatesh doesn't follow up when sending in medications. He will say he sent in your prescriptions when he actually hasn't. This makes staying on your medications hard. Even after repeated calls... I'm still(day 5) having to call his nurse, and they just tell me he sent them in, but my pharmacy Still after this many days has NOTHING on file from Dr. Venkatesh. I would recommend seeing someone else in his office if possible. His Assistant Joshua DOES send in prescriptions same day and after being seen. Not sure why the Doctor can't seem to manage his prescriptions.

STAY AWAY!
I have steadily become worse and worse and WORSE ever since becoming a patient of this so called "doctor" Athi P. Venkatesh, MD. Each and every visit (which was "unavailable" in person) would lead to me attempting to describe the symptoms as well as meds NOT WORKING yet he REFUSED to listen to what my words or comments were & continually prescribed more & more of what DOESN'T work! Absolutely NO ability to listen, much less diagnose and her truly created a tremendous ~ TREMENDOUS NIGHTMARE of my already fragile mentality. STAY AWAY is my advice!

Patient portal
The patient portal is terrible! The only way to make an appt is through the portal which I cannot access. Three different people from your office have attempted to help & been unable to. I need an appt for next wk & can’t get one. This is causing major anxiety. If you continue to only allow appts to be made this way I will have to change drs after going to you for many yrs. Pls do something abt this. Thank you

My son has been seeing a psychiatrist since early childhood. We decided to try Kingwood Psychiatry when Peyton was in his teens. 13 or so. Very unprofessional staff in this place period. This doctor is a joke...kicked me out of office because I got into it with his staff. Over the same things everytime They accuse you of no shows ask you everytime for your insurance. Take 2 or more hours to see you. This doctor had the gal to mock me in front of his staff asking if I was the patient. Knowing that I was not. He was calling me a psychiatric patient. Thinking he was funny.

Nobody seems to know what they are doing. Medications have been sent incorrectly, refills not on time causing me to run out of meds that I'm not supposed to miss. He is constantly trying to get patients to go to Kingwood Pines Hospital because he is the director there and he gets paid $$ big bucks $$ that way! Billed my insurance company $400 for each visit... even when he talked to me for 3 minutes and handed me a refill. He is all about the money and throwing a million different meds at you.

This office is not a safe place to be if you have mental health issues. I had visited the office and was in a bipolar mania. I forgot my wallet at home and didn't have $25 to pay for for co-pay. I asked the office if they could bill me the $25 and said no. As I was saying, I was in a Mania and was getting rejected to see my psychiatrist. Sooooo. you are at a psychiatrist office and having a psychiatric episode and you cant get in to see the doctor and get help. NOT A SAFE A FACILITY

I met with NP P. Thuo. She was absolutely amazing. She actively listened, seemed genuinely concerned, and she didn't hesitate to provide the support that I needed. It was a really good experience for me, and I look forward to continuing my treatment with her.

Today was my first visit. I was a little skeptical due to all be bad reviews but I can tell you my experience was worth 5+ stars. Not only was the receptionist friendly & welcoming but I was taken back into the office only after 15 minutes. My intake nurse was a breath of fresh air & he asked more indepth questions no other psychiatrist in my almost 20 yrs of visits. Please do not let negative people that had 99 great visits but only write a review for 1 bad day visit due to their own bitterness

I needed a refill of my medication and caused the office. They refilled my medication and sent to my pharmacy. This was on a Friday. I went to pick up the medicine Saturday morning and my pharmacy was no longer in stock of the medicine. Certain type of med, the pharmacy can't transfer the medicine. I call the Dr. to get them to send it somewhere else and they say they are off. The medication I'm on causes extreme withdraws after 24 hours. He said he didn't care. 48 hours of withdraws...

Dr. Venkatesh and his staff are extremely knowledgeable, caring and professional. I couldn't be happier with the practice! They spend plenty of time with me to address any medical issues that I might have and take time to review details of the last visit. The wait time to be seen is average, but I've never waited too long. Any secure messages that I send to the practice are answered within the same day. Wouldn't change practices as I am very happy with this one!

Dr. V and the Kingwood Psych team has been amazing. My 5 y/o son has been diagnosed with both autism as well as ADHD, and on the initial visit they spent time (over 2 hours) speaking to us to really figure out the best course of action with our son. They are easy to access and the visits moving forward have been just as good.

I have been with Dr. Venkatesh over 10 years now. He is my inpatient and outpatient psychiatrist. He is an extremely caring individual who always puts his patience needs first. I have the utmost respect for him. He has gotten me through some extremity low points in my life and has never given up on me. I trust his judgement and would recommend him to anyone who is out there searching for the "right" psychiatrist.

Excellent!! I love Dr.Venktesh. He helped me overcome severe depression. I do have to wait longer than I would like but if that's what it takes to get the help I need them no problem. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.

This place is terrible do not waste your time gong here. I filled out all the paperwork they requested on their website. I provided my insurance information and was scheduled and appointment with one of the doctors. Showed up for my appointment and was informed they no longer accept my insurance. They had plenty of time to check my insurance information and let me know they no longer accepted it before I took time off work. They said I would have to pay $300 out of pocket to see the doctor. I r
