….Rushed appointment, Poor communication skills, Didn’t discuss anything about the surgery just said I’d be pain free. Gave me brochures with links and told me to watch videos of the surgery. He planned a totally different surgery than videos HE told me to watch of the surgery I he said I was having. Found out from PA a week before surgery it was not the surgery in videos. Dr. G wasn’t going to discuss it until the day of the surgery. Cancelled surgery!! He wanted to talk the day after I said was canceling for second opinion. Met with him, he wasn’t happy that I’m asking questions concerning my spine surgery? He was arrogant and rude , Now have an appointment with a neurosurgeon in Wilmington. Do research, get a second or third opinion, just find a surgeon you are comfortable with, one that discusses your surgery BEFORE the day of the surgery, find a surgeon one isn’t arrogant and doesn’t mind if you ask questions, one that will explain, and not just say watch this video.

Very rude and unprofessional towards women. Pretends to be a man of God, but belittles others and insists “Time is money!” He’s a jerk and a joke of a surgeon.

Dr Guirgues has done both cervical and lumbar surgeries for me and I feel very fortunate to have a spine surgeon of his caliber in small Carteret County. I also find his PA (Drew Norris), nursing staff and clerical staff to competent, efficient, and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Guirgues to you.

Very rude, NO compassion, arrogant, full of himself. Deserves a ZERO rating! Told me, in front of a friend whom I took, he "didn't care about my pain. I would always have it and have to do PT forever" He had me in tears after suffering for 8 and a half months in severe pain in my lower back. MRI clearly showed a bulge pinching a nerve! Decided to go see a "competent" neurosurgeon who performed my surgery and I am 3 weeks out and NO pain. After MY experience, I talked with numerous other people who had same problem with Dr. Guirgues as me! My advice: stay away and go elsewhere... I wouldn't let him treat an ingrown hair! He needs to learn proper bedside manner! *** I reviewed this person yesterday and it was not posted so wondering if you are biased??? Hope not...

Excellent surgeon, very knowledgeable and down to earth. He cares about his patients and I'm so glad he did my surgery. I'm almost pain free only 3 months post surgery and I'm enjoying life again one step at the time.

DR. G is the BEST surgeon! He did my back surgery and double cervical fusion. I was in the hospital after my neck surgery and could not swallow due to the drain in my neck. A nurse was rude I asked her to call Dr. G and she said to me was "He gets mad when he bothered." The next morning when DR. G was making rounds and I told him what said. He wanted the name of the nurse and responded "I get mad when I don't know what is going on with my patients." He found out the nurse and took care of it.

Blade happy. Did okay neck surgery on my wife. BUT he did not do prior history review or necessary lab tests to show the existence of Renal Cell Cancer instead he carries out his surgery. Now during the surgery he has to do a bone graft, he opens the iliac crest in goes the blood and because of his lack of review my wife now has BONE CANCER.

I began my journey to back surgery with Dr. Guirgues in 2014 after many years of severe back pain. Dr. Guirgues did not recommend surgery in the beginning but opted for an approach of physical therapy, exercise and stretching. Only after we had exhausted every avenue and I was still in considerable pain did he recommend surgery. My surgery date was 6 months ago where I had a TLIF procedure. I am no longer in pain and have recovered 100%. I cannot say enough good things about this man!

Dr. Guirgues has changed my life. I have suffered from chronic pain for more than two decades associated with my L5 vertebra and surrounding disc and nerve bundles. Dr. G was the first doctor in 14 years to actually X-ray my spine in a position other than supine and revealed the true nature of my issues. I am 6 months post TLIF and am now DRUG FREE for the first time in over 10 years. I am following my exercise regimen and have returned to bowling at a competitive level. Thank you so much!

When I saw him he and I quote said I can tell that u r in pain, but I will do nothing for u. Basically as I was not surgical I was not worth his time. He said I would be in pain for the rest of my life and I needed to just live with it. I asked for a referral to pain management he never made a referral. I have never in my life been treated with such disdain he was rude dismissive and lacked any compassion. I not the only person to experience this I know of two others that had similar visits.
