Dr. Ashley Martin, MD

She is above and beyond the best doctor I've had. So much so my husband, mother and two sisters now see her and love her. She knows what she's talking about, is very kind and is respectful. She doesn't talk down to us like other doctors do. I plan on staying under her care for as long as my insurance allows it.

Dr. Martin is very irresponsible. She talks down to people instead of trying to understand them. She is also very unreasonable and I feel like is trying to get people to spend unnecessary money.

Dr. Martin has repeatedly used fear-based, insensitive language to push me towards expensive testing that I did not need. Twice I have pursued these tests (X-rays, blood tests) and received normal results along with bills of nearly $1,000. When I've sought a second opinion, other physicians have felt Dr. Martin's testing suggestions were extreme or unnecessary. While I understand that she is not in control of insurance-related billing, it is her responsibility to make responsible and educated decisions on behalf of her patients. She also uses aggressive, triggering, and insensitive language around eating disorders. As a prominent figure at UChicago's eating disorder clinic, I would expect more from her.
