An experience they took me a long time to recover from & forgive, i was ill with an undiagnosed genetic disorder. She ws adamant to my family that my i had a personality disorder and that my symptoms were psychological. Since then i have nearly died 3x & weve lost 2 family members to the disorder. I know the general practice seems to be to leave positive reviews or none at all but this experience was so scarring that i felt the need to put this info out there. I truly dont believe she meant me harm but nonetheless her diagnostic negligence caused me such. My weight had plummetted to 106 at 5’6 so i clearly had physical manifestations of being ill.

I have been a patient of Dr. Deaton for over 6 years, she was able to help me through a severe crisis point in my life and I have continued to see her through the years to help me get through the humps and hurdles called life. I would highly recommend Dr. Deaton to anyone who needs just a little help to an emergency situation. I am thankful that I have Dr. Ashley as my psychiatrist.

Some therapists are over-the-top mushy and maudlin. Others can be cold as ice. Dr. Deaton possesses that rare ability to communicate true understanding and empathy in a very professional, clear way. She challenges and supports at the same time. If her style even alienated anyone, it is because there’s something wrong inside them—not her. This is why I give my highest possible recommendation of Dr. Ashley Deaton.

First and foremost, as a diagnostician, she is unsurpassed. In working with me, and later with my daughter, Dr. Deaton quickly analyzed the situation, and made diagnoses that turned out to be spot on—when other practitioners repeatedly missed the mark. The meds she initially prescribed were perfect for the situation, and carried both me and my daughter to a much better place, while she went deeper with through talk therapy.

One of the best discoveries I have made in Austin, since moving here, is Dr. Ashley Deaton. I have a vast experience with psychiatrists, through my lifetime of work on my inner demons, and professionally, as a Certified Gestalt Therapist, with a PhD, and I can tell you that Dr. Deaton is the finest psychiatrist I have cone across in a lifetime of professional practice.

I have been under Doctor Deatons care for nearly seven years. Doctor Deaton was not my first psychiatrist. I bounced from doc to doc looking for a good fit. I wanted a mental health provider who was knowlegable and had good instincts but also a good listener and someone I could trust. She has always treated me with the utmost respect and I have always felt safe knowing I could call on her for help at any time. I am very fortunate to have found a great doctor who is an even better human being.

Dr. Deaton was my doctor for over two years while I was living in Austin, and she was absolutely instrumental in getting me out of the deep depression I was in and onto the road to recovery. Years later, I am still constantly amazed by how much her expertise and insight continues to help me now navigate daily life with a mental illness. She is highly intelligent both emotionally and intellectually, and I could not have asked for a better doctor. I wish I still lived in Austin to see her!
