This doc only cares about money!
I have been seeing his nurse practitioner for years and now all of a sudden Dr.Schachter wants me to see him every other month instead of Mr.Phillips. I used to could get my lorazepam every 3 months but now I have to be seen every single month and am only given 30 days. Dr.Schachter spends on average one minute with me. He only writes paper scrips which are extremely inconvenient as the pharmacy can’t read them and have to call the office to have them translate. I have extreme depression and anxiety and this going back and forth seeing him and Anthony has made it worse. I used to look forward to my appointments with Anthony because he cares and would listen but I feel insulted and hurt that I am having to come and pay to see a doctor who puts money way over quality patient care. He is only required to see his nurse practitioner patients once a year and the pharmacy verified to me that most doctor’s prescribe three months of meds so this is clearly a money grab.

Dr Shatner is a great Doctor, he treats you with your problems and his staff is very nice and helpful too. You don't have long wait times because he see's you as soon as you get there. I would recommend him highly to anyone, he is a genius. I would give him 100 stars if I could.

He doesn’t care!
This guy absolutely does not care about you or your wellbeing. He always asks the same question, “how are the meds working?” and then hands you a prescription and sends you on your way. Literally, you’re in his office for less than 3 minutes! I was always given the option for a 6:30 am appointment but he was always the first worker there unlocking the doors at 6:45, but if you’re 14 seconds late to your appointment, you have to reschedule and are charged a fee. He will randomly take you off your medication cold turkey and is unwilling to put you back on it. He doesn’t listen to you. Also, some of the office staff are kinda rude in person. Moral of the story, DO NOT USE THIS GUY!

He is awful!!!
He took me to the office and didn’t even let me sit down and before he started asking me questions about money. Telling me that a drug test is $900 after I had already paid for my visit! Then he wouldn’t listen to a thing I said. The only thing that mattered to him was money. The staff was nice over the phone but not nice in person. I feel very disrespected, and like I did not matter to him at all!! I won’t be going back there!!!!

Doesn't listen
Dr Schacter has his own ideas about what is best for you, even if you already know what works from other doctors and have been on an effective regimine for years. He needs to teach academic medicine or do research. He doesn't listen. He just wants to try the most expensive, trendy medicine that was just developed based on some half baked academic theory.

Was my favorite, now my most stressful
I have been a patient of Schachter for ~15 years. He was my favorite doctor. I was finally on a regimen that worked. We tried to swap things around once and it really messed me up. My husband had to take me in. Schachter listened put me back on my initial medications and increased the dosage. So a few more years pass and everything is going smooth until… Schachter cuts me off of 3 medications, COLD-TURKEY, one of the medications wasn’t prescribed by him and it’s for a condition he is unable to take over care, unless he wants to since I have to ask him if he is ok with me being prescribed something before I need treatment from another provider. I just want to go back to where I didn’t lay in bed for 18 hours a day, where I was an active, productive, happy, functional human being. I don’t know what to do to get back to feeling like myself again.

Be Warned: He Doesn’t Care About Your Health
First off, as others have mentioned appointments are in 10 minute blocks and don’t last that long. He said operates a legalized pill mill where his #1 priority is getting you a new script as quickly as possible. He always asks “how things are going? Are the meds working?” but he doesn’t really care what you say. He’s already writing on his script pad. I was already looking for a new psychiatrist at the strong urging of my therapist due to increasing depression and passive suicidal thoughts. When I asked Schachter for a change in my depression medication he required a drug screen. Sounded odd, but ok no problem since I knew I was clean. I mentioned to the nurse I take legal CBD to help with anxiety and sleep. This didn’t seem to be an issue. A week later I get a call from said nurse that one of my vitally important meds was being revoked because I tested positive for THC. There was no ability to discuss unless I paid for a new appt. He doesn’t care about your mental health

Dr. Schachter´s colleague apologized for his conduct to me for not listening to his patient (me). I told him I was allergic to antidepressants. I had been told that by another doctor. He insisted I would be fine with an antidepressant and a mood stabilizer, and it in fact triggered a manic like state where I didn´t sleep for days. He never humbly admitted he was mistaken and just acted like it didn´t happen. While I am told he is a brilliant academic psychiatrist, I strongly feel he would be better suited for teaching or research if he does not seek continuing education regarding active listening and validation of patients. He seems to take an old school approach where he knows better and you haven´t been to med school so therefore don´t know anything. I never went back to him and found better care even with psychiatric nurse practioners who are ¨less educated.¨

No, do not use this guy. Dr. Schachter treated my wife for two months and only made things worse. It should have been a big red flag that her counselor warned her that the visits were 10 minutes. His treatment of my wife borders . He upped her daily medicine dose, which brought her total treatment on drug for 8 months, and then cold turkey had her stop without ANY coaching. His appointment after was completely unempathetic and cold, more blaming my wife for experiencing the symptoms. He should not be allowed to practice.

Dr Schachter is an excellent phychiatrist who helped me find the right medicines that work for me. I have been with him for several years and my appointments can range from once a month, to once every 3 months. During an extra stressful time in my life, he met with me every week. I'm grateful for Dr. Schachter and his staff at Grayson and Associates.

I think he is an excellent psychiatrist. I first met him when I was hospitalized at Brookwood and since being under his care I have been stable and even more importantly, happy. My depression is gone and I am grateful.

Dr. Schachter is always on time. You have to realize, he is an expert in the field. He is willing to listen if you have concerns. You may not get the answer that you want, but he is very upfront and honest. I respect this man because he respects me and listens if I have a concern. He is open to my input for my mental health care and recommended meds.. For this I am deeply grateful. Keeping things professional and not personal makes for the best treatment. But, never doubt his concern. After 11years I feel that I am qualified to say. He is a good doctor. I will always seek his advice on any changes I have because he take me the person into consideration!! Remember,. Kindness in itself is a gift. Kindness with direction is a blessing!

My granddaughter suffers from severe depression and is bipolar. This doctor left town after changing her appointment and left her without her med for a WEEK!!! No way to contact him at all for a refill. Even her therapist tried to get her a refill and couldn't! As I write this she is in crisis mode and is crashing without her med. This is not a controlled substance either! This is a med that helps her to not be severely depressed and take care of her 2 small children!! what a quack!!!!

He is the worst psychiatrist I have ever seen. He had zero compassion. Only spent about 2 minutes with me. After 38 ects I no longer wanted to continue so he pretty much acted like a waste of his time. Like I was bothering him by being there. I have never been so hurt and let down by someone who was supposed to be a professional. He said I should return to work after 3 months after having my ect procedures. I have tried 3 more medications none of which have worked. Stay far away!

This doctor is terrible and only cares about money. I was seeing him outpatient and then ended up with him when I was hospitalized at Brookwood where he'd come at 5 am and spend 30 seconds with me. He had no interest in how I was doing and so I found a new psychiatrist after I was discharged.
