On Call but Wouldn't Come in
Dr Mayfield was on-call at Northern Westchester Hospital the day my child broke their arm. After confirming a break via review of x-ray the Dr. decided not to come in and leave my child with a broken and unset fracture until the next day. His office staff called in the morning to follow-up and tell me what to do. Isn't this his role as the on-call Orthopedist.

I had surgery about 8 years ago by by Dr Mayerfield when he was only 40 minutes away. Now that he relocated his office 1 1/2 hours away, I tried a Dr closer. That was a big disappointment I felt like I was in a poorly ran clinic. Needless to say I now happily travel that distance to receive what I consider excellent and compassionate care.

Excellent surgeon
Dr. Ari Mayerfield is an excellent hand surgeon. Would totally recommend him. Super professional, thorough, friendly and has a great bedside manner. I never felt rushed. He made me feel at ease, answered all of my questions and did an excellent job repairing my wrist. Northwell Hospital was also an excellent place to have surgery.

Awful! Performed a surgery that cost me thousands out of pocket even with insurance and it didn’t even remedy my problem! Went back and was told he needed to “go back in” and it would only cost me a “few thousand more” Are you kidding me? I’ve been in pain for years and this quack did nothing to help. He never followed back up, never scheduled the MRI they said they would and charged me $800 for a cheap splint I could have gotten on amazon for $5.00.

I can’t thank Dr. Mayerfield enough for his excellent care and professionalism. I was scared and nervous to do a very needed bilateral carpal tunnel surgery. He convinced me that it was a very necessary surgery and that it would change my everyday activity. I use my hands very heavily in my line of work and my carpal tunnel was so bad. He eased my mind every step of the way. I could not believe the difference in my hands days after the surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Mayerfield to anyone who needs a hand surgeon. I trusted him 100% for a surgery on my sons finger when he performed a miracle and I had no hesitation going back to him for mine. He takes the time to go over all questions, and I ask a lot of questions ??, to make sure the patient feels 100% comfortable. Thank you Dr. Mayerfield!!

Charged $120 to remove three stitches. Was never told they didn’t accept our insurance. Watch out, all they want is your money.

He was kind and caring. Knew how to treat my issue and was quick to schedule the surgery I needed and followed up immediately after with those caring for me. I have seen other dr in the area for the same issue, Dr Mayerfield was the only Dr to come up with a plan of action and to follow through.

This doctor was more worried about any and everything else, than treating me. His bedside manner was cold and distant. He doesn't follow through with his patient's medical plan, How do you forget to schedule a surgery for a patient that came from the emergency room? Hippocratic Oath needs to be revisited by him. Unprofessional.
