I had referral from my primary doctor to see Dr. Arelis Madera, her staff was really rude. When I finally met her at the front desk and had few words, she told me I couldn't have an appt. unless the test results from my primary Dr. shows anything wrong. In that case, I could come back and she would evaluate if she could give me an appointment. is preventive medicine possible???

Horrible experience
This doctor told me I don’t have Thyroid cancer even though I had a nodule found a CT scan , no ultrasound yet, and have had bad symptoms. She would not order the correct blood tests for Thyroid and would not listen to me when I told her I need a reverse T3. I don’t know what blood tests she was looking at, but my thyroid tests came out low, and some were out of range. She did a small ultrasound in the office and found another nodule, but said it wasn’t cancerous. How would she know without a biopsy? When she was feeling my neck it made me nauseous. She told me that I should probably not get any tests done until I feel better if I can’t handle that. I was seeking help because I don’t feel good, and haven’t for years. I won’t go back to her. I had my primary look at my blood work and she found I am positive for the ANA gene, and she’s sending me to a rheumatologist for Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, which is what she feels it is with all my symptoms. I’m going to an ENT for biopsy.

Prescription
I took my dad to an appointment with the nurse, very kind I may say; but when it comes to answering the phone and returning calls I may say is the worse I’ve called numerous times and so have my sister to get a prescription sent to the pharmacy because his all out of it, there have been no call back, or even a prescription sent to the pharmacy. If they are short of staff they may hire me and I’ll do the work. Jesus how long does it really takes to call in a prescription to the pharmacy. My dad is almost 80 years old for God sake have a little more decency and at least call back and if you can’t reach the person at the time leave a message every phone now a days have voicemail or a quick text, your prescription has been called in, please call your pharmacy before heading out just to make sure is ready. I ran 3 departments at the hospital I eirked at and there was never one bad thing to say about my work. You need help? Let me know?

Good Physician but the worst front office ever !! Five messages over six days to make an appointment. No return calls. Portal is a waste of time. Millennium worst organization ever, and I'm being kind calling them an organization.

I called Dr. Madera about my annual MRI. It was already November and 6 months late. I had 2 benign Pituitary Adenomas removed in 2009, just 9 yrs earlier and had another one growing, so you can understand my concern. Normally, doctors ordered it every spring, now I was with Dr. Madera and nothing happened. Since I had to pick up the results of a test she did to see if my Pituitary was working that sent me into a horrible Trigeminal Neuralgia Episode, I stopped by her office. She had told her desk girl to tell me that my present tumor was stable and didn’t need a MRI though she there was no way of knowing without the MRI. When I asked to discuss this with the doctor, the girl told me to use the Portal. Never having used one before, I asked how to do that. (In NH doctors talk to you on the phone) She rolled her eyes, said, “Oh God!”, with a big loud sigh, and then just stared at me. Totally disgusted I left never to return. Dr. Madera and her staff are horrible! Don't go!

Dr. Madera is extremely competent, and is up to date on meds available and technology. She is able to do what is right for her patient. In addition she keeps close tabs on what is going on. I have a great deal of confidence and trust in her ability. She is the best Diabetes, Metabolism & Endocrinologists, in my opinion, in Charlotte County. Regarding the staff I have read a few reviews. I have never had a problem with the staff. They are kind concerned and recently helped me the day I needed help! Special mention to Amber, as she responded very quickly!

The worst doctor I've ever dealt with and I'm a nurse!!!! My daughter tried to get an appointment. Said primary needed to send a referral. Primary said they sent referral , Madera's office says they don't have it. This went back and forth the multiple times. Office person was rude and made excuses about madera beins busy traveling speaking at conferences.. Finally got in to see Dr. she came across as being nice but made all kinds of excuses about being busy. Nothing really accomplished at visit. two TSH levels later, my daughter goes by herself to see madera and she is told low thyroid and that she is fat. Geez....great bedside manner and maybe the weight gain is due to her HYPOTHRYOID????? Will NOT be seeing this doctor again!! Heed all the other reviews too please.

Absolutely TERRIBLE office. Avoid at all costs (which shouldn't be a problem because they won't give you an appointment). My doctor's office sent over referrals and other misc lab and test results 3X since May 2019. They kept insisting they weren't receiving it, while my primary care had proof of it being sent/received. So on July 1, I got copies of everything and walked it into their office on Tamiami Tr (next to the fire station). I was told again at that time, "You do not need to call. Dr. Madera will review your test results and you will be scheduled accordingly." Meaning, if she doesn't see you as a priority you will be put on the back burner. Now 8/16/19, I called to see if I was waiting on nothing. Sure enough, now they claim that they never received the information that I physically brought to them! "Tammy" is a piece of work. The nastiest most uncaring and rude individual I have ever spoken to. Certainly in the wrong line of work. Staff is ruining the doctor's reputation.

I hope people read these reviews as they are acurate in her office staffs rudeness. My doctor gave her a referal and I heard nothing so I called her office girl was very rude and told me I should not have called and not to call there again that they would call me however it has been a week and no return call even my doctor who referred me could not get them to pick up nor did they return their call. Very unprofessional and the rudeness of her staff I wouldn't go there if they now called back. I certainly think the doctor should read these reviews about her staff and their rudeness. Lesions were found on my thyroid so it was very important for me to get in.

The chairs are so low that when my father sat down he hit his head on the wall. Although my father is the patient, the doctor only looked at me. When I noticed this I looked at my father so the doctor would also look at my father. She bent over and put her face into my face. I said, “Please look at my father he is the patient.” She may know medicine, but she has no idea how to talk respectfully to her patients
