I went to the ER as recommended by my medical doctors due to severe pain. Dr. Basra’s bedside manner was no where near compassionate. She offered no explanation of what could be causing my pain except the fact she ruled out any kind of emergency. I was in severe pain and I suffered there for hours as she didn’t order anything to be given for my level of pain. She discharged me before a test result came back and didn’t come back to check on me or my state (I was crying and in pain). To me it seem I was just a number not a person coming in for help as advised to do so from my medical doctors who I wasn’t able to get an appointment with. I would not recommend her to anyone. I would never go back to Mountain Island Emergency Department because of her. I returned home with the same symptoms I had when I went with no prescriptions for any type of medication that would provide some form of relief until I’m able to see my specialty doctors next week. This was the worse experience ever and her disregard for human life baffles me. She should not be practicing medicine. I am a minority woman so I felt she would at least relate to how often we are treated unfair especially in emergency rooms but no she could careless even when I asked questions trying to understand my health. She just ordered a scan and walked out the room. I am now back home in pain and in tears for four hours I went for help and received nothing from this doctor. The pain medication given did not provide relief. She didn’t ask nor did she seem to care. She could clearly see I was in much discomfort. I wonder if it was a friend or hers or a relative if she would’ve treated them the same. My blood pressure is still elevated and she discharged me before getting it to a stable state. She discharged me before the results of my heart enzymes came back. I mentioned I may leave because I was getting no assistance. The nurse told me it was my decision. The next thing I know the nurse is coming in with discharge papers and preparing me to leave and I asked why because I didn’t decide to leave. She mentioned the doctor was discharging me after the nurse told me it was against her own medical advice for me to leave without the results of the labs and without my blood pressure stabilizing. But this doctor thought it was a great idea to let me leave in the same state I was in when I arrived AND with an extremely elevated blood pressure and without the results of my heart enzymes.
