Excision Expert
I'm a physician assistant myself and had my second surgery for endo with Dr. O'Connell in Sept. 2024. He is a true expert and takes abundant time with his patients. The surgery center at Medical City Dallas and the anesthesiologist and hospitalist he uses are all wonderful. His staff is so kind and helpful in office as well. I'll be referring my patients with endometriosis to him for sure as I know they'll be getting expert care. I can't brag enough on him!

Dr. O'Connell is very knowledgeable and took his time going over my endometriosis diagnosis and next steps. However, his office staff is awful. My second visit was scheduled for a Friday, they stated I would probably have to wait a few minutes after my appointment time as he usually has surgeries on Friday mornings. I waited an hour before he showed up. I do not understand why appointments are accepted if he has surgeries already scheduled. I also requested my medical records to be released to a fertility clinic and I had to call 4 different times to follow up. They are rude and unprofessional. While I believe Dr. O'Connell is well qualified - his office staff is not and I will not be returning unfortunately.

I traveled from Houston and his office tried to cancel my appt on the way. They offered an appt far in the future and refused to work me in on any other day, so I insisted on keeping my appt. When I arrived Dr. O'Connell was seeing patients so not sure why my appt was being canceled, but he was angry I came in. He didn't review my op notes, didn't ask any questions, didn't provide any treatment options on a pre-existing issue. He only did an abdominal US vs transvaginal. He kept telling me to have babies, which I found offensive and presumptive. I left feeling extremely disappointed and like the appt was a complete waste. His office overcharged me too. The office fought me for 3 months for a refund and I finally had to let them know it was state law to refund me before they did. Dr. O'Connell even got on the phone and yelled at me and told me his complaint department was closed while I was trying to get a refund from his office. He also admitted to not providing me any help.

Dr. O'Connell is amazing. I've had 2 surgeries for endometriosis in 13 months. He performed my 2nd surgery. I wish he had done my first. I may not have needed a second! I traveled from Houston just to see him. He can make you wait a little, but it's because he spends as much time with you as you need. Worth the wait.

The receptionist and nurse was the same person. She was attending to me and then running off to answer phone calls. Once she was done asking my medical history I asked when the dr would see me, she said he wasn't there, which was already 30 mins late and then she came back and told me he was going to be another 50 mins late.

After almost two years of debilitating pain, visiting many doctors and only running into dead ends, Dr. Oconnell finally gave me answers. Not only is he a brilliant physician, his bedside manner is second to none. He is funny, kind, and understanding. He really listens and empowers the patient to actively participate in their care. He explained my procedure thoroughly and took time to make sure my questions were answered. I am so happy to have found such an amazing doctor who genuinely cares.

I wanted a second opinion about surgery options and a friend recommended Dr. O'Connell. I was able to get in within a few days and sent my records ahead of time. I was really nervous but Dr. O'Connell is very professional and he calmed my fears. He reviewed my records, examined me and did an ultrasound and was very thorough. I have options and my problem isn't urgent, so I can get my kids through the school year while I make my decisions.

He deserves a 10 star rating in my opinion. Dr O'Connell has several awards for compassion and you will see why when you meet him. He spends time with you and answers any question you may have no mater how delicate and personal it may be. Staff is warm and friendly, on top of insurance and returned phone calls. Office and exam rooms are lovely. He performed a surgery for me at Medical City using the robotic method. I am 4 weeks post op and doing great. WTG Dr. O'Conell!
