Compassion from the minute you walk in the dooor
I have been to countless doctors for my back, none of them could give me answers other than “do Physical Therapy”, “loose weight”, or “here take more pills” I did all of that and found no relief. I had given up, thinking I was never going to find relief. Then someone recommended Dr. Lomonaco, I figured “what’s one more doctor telling me they don’t know what causes my pain”? Until I met Dr. Lomonaco… within 5 minutes he knew what was causing my pain and had a treatment plan. 2 weeks later I was getting diagnostic nerve blocks (don’t ask me how he managed to do multiple injections with almost zero pain). Would you believe me if I told you I was singing along to the song playing while he was doing them.. well, I was. Now we are planning a solution!Honestly I don’t have enough room to type all the amazing things I want to about him and his staff. Kind, caring and compassionate from the minute you walk in the front door. Office is as warm and welcoming as the staff!!

Sciatica and piriformis cluster of issues
Had an unsuccessful ER visit with excruciating, unrelenting, sciatica and piriformis spasms. Dr. LoMonaco did one diagnostic injection that immediately relieved the piriformis issues and another that completely alleviated the sciatica. Good to know there is a right place to go to get healed.

Vertiflex spacer did not help my spinal stenosis
Having spinal stenosis in L4-L5-S1, Dr. Lamonaco tried to help reduce my pain and numbness by first trying a steroid shot and later by inserting a Vertiflex interspinous spacer between L4-L5. Insurance did not cover this cost and I paid about $18,000 out of pocket for this. The Vertiflex spacer did not solve my pain or numbness in my calves and caused new pain in my hamstring. After living with the additional pain for about 8 months, I saw a orthopedic surgeon who removed the Vertiflex spacer and performed a laminectomy. The surgeon said the spacer was not correctly seated between the vertebrae and it caused scaring in the area it was placed. I am happy to say the laminectomy was the right solution and my back pain and numbness are now gone. I can now walk 4 to 5 miles a day without any numbness. Dr. Lomonaco is a nice person and is concerned with solving pain issues but the solution he provided did not solve my issue and was very costly, that's why I gave him one star.

Not Thorough
His diagnosis's fits whatever procedure he wants to do on you. Yes, they change constantly. He doesn't give follow up instructions although he writes in his progress notes that he does. Once he wrote I needed a nerve block on my right side of my neck when it was actually my left side then he blamed it on me. I've been going to him for months now and have had two procedures and I have no idea why and I'm still in severe pain? NO Communication, always in a rush, forgets important instructions, I could go on. Very immature.

Dr. LoManaco and all of the staff at North Shore Pain Management are the best I have ever been to in my life. He genuinely cares about his patients. I have had several health problems with my spine, and two cervical spine surgeries. I have tried numerous therapies over the years and have seen many doctors. Dr. LoManaco is by far the most positive, encouraging, knowledgeable, and kindest doctor I have ever been to and I have never felt as great! I was in the most horrible pain I have ever experienced in my life prior to visiting Dr. LoManaco. As he entered the room, I started off trying to hurriedly explain my situation, because many doctors I’ve seen barely give you time to say anything or just hear what is going on. Dr. Lomanaco is NOT like that; he does not rush you. He gives you all the time you need. Dr. Lomanaco and his team have handled my pain management care and it has gone so well. I am so forever grateful to Dr. LoManaco. I am getting my life back. No Pun Intended!
